Raise Funds & Friends for MFP!
and Millennium Hollywood
teamed up in January to raise over $3,500 for MFP's transportation services for the youth.
Not only did they help provide safe transportation to job interviews, medical and healthcare appointments, school, etc., their advocacy brought in much-needed items the youth need to move beyond daily survival.

Check out this short video of MFP's Executive Director,
Heather Carmichael, explaining the value of these partnerships.

Thank you to Millenium and Hidden LA for caring about the community and the youth MFP serves! We look forward to partnering with you in the future to grow the employment opportunities available to youth in the Hollywood community! And thank you to everyone who participated to make such a tangible impact in these young people's lives!
March for Socks!
MFP provides nearly 1,200 pairs of socks per month. However, this month we had to make the tough decision to decrease our offering due to increased costs from the manufacturer.

But you can help! Host a "March for Socks" drive at your school, business or among your family and friends. Or, if you're out and about and see a bargain, please consider picking some up for the youth of MFP! Every single pair will help us provide this very important basic need to the young people.

Sometimes we forget the big difference something so simple--like socks--can make in someone's life. But imagine coming off of the chilly streets and into MFP for a hot shower, and how comforting a clean pair of socks would be!

We need them all--men's, women's, crew or athletic!
Help youth put their best foot forward!

We can help you organize a drive! Give Natalie a call at (323) 908-0011 x101 or email: development@myfriendsplace.org
MFP Staff Receive CPR Certification

As of January 2013, all staff members at MFP are CPR Certified! The team completed a training and examination to improve our emergency response when working with young people. Young parents have also received

Child and Baby CPR instruction in our Parenting Program.

This is part of our ongoing commitment to increase our emergency preparedness, and to ensure the safety and well being of the youth.

We had a blast at Noodle Bowl Fest at the Viceroy Santa Monica on Sunday, February 10th! A HUGE thank you to the amazing Stacey and June (see Volunteers of the Month) for organizing such a fantastic benefit event for us. We made 600 new foodie friends and met some incredibly talented chefs.

Special thank you to participating Los Angeles restaurants:

 Stacey Sun & June Bayha

June was introduced to MFP through Street Symphony, a non profit musician ensemble. June then recruited Stacey, her friend and director of DineLA, to visit our resource center. Of their time at MFP, June says:

"We feel strongly that homeless youth are often forgotten in the conversation about homelessness. The safe and caring environment created by the awesome staff and volunteers is apparent upon walking through the doors. We so value all of the services and resources made available to homeless youth through My Friend's Place."

June and Stacey then joined forces and organized Noodle Bowl Fest, a benefit event which brought together some of Los Angeles' hottest chefs and over 600 foodies and friends at the Viceroy Hotel Santa Monica.

"We dreamed up Noodle Bowl Fest because we both love Asian soup noodles. We thought it would be fun to bring together amazing chefs in one place to offer a variety of delicious noodles while raising funds and awareness for homeless youth."

MFP couldn't agree more! We thank you both for your support and creativity in putting this incredible event together.
