"God's Work. Our Hands"
T-shirts now available!

"Grace in Action" is an ELCA  community-based church in Detroit that supports new businesses in their community.   "Stitching Up Detroit" is one of their businesses that will be producing yellow t-shirts for our congregation.  The shirts will read "God's Work. Our hands." on the front and our church name on the back.  Proceeds will go to Grace in Action and ELCA World Hunger.  The High School students will meet in the narthex at the close of worship to sell "St. Paul God's Work. Our Hands." T shirts.

The Non-Food Pantry is now open!

Donations are now being accepted for the Non-Food Pantry as the High School students begin to restock and prepare for our first donation to Freedom House in October.  A list of personal care, cleaning supplies and paper products is available in the foyer near the collection bin.  There is also a pre-printed receipt for your donation and records.  We are also happy to accept any coupons that you have clipped for the items. Thank you for your continued support of this ministry!

Next Gleaners Food Bank workday is Saturday, October 4 from 1-3:30pm.  Share the joys of serving others by volunteering at the food bank.  Please sign-up so we can submit a head count for planning purposes.  Our goal is to have a group of 20 attend.  Sign-up poster is located in the narthex or contact Shelley Reisen at 882-8099/ treisen@comcast.net.  Meet at the church at 12:30 to carpool.  Please note that due to the nature of the work involved, Gleaners prefers age middle school to adult participating in this event.  Wear your "God's Hand, Our Work" yellow t-shirts!

From Pastor Dittirch And Transition Update
Dear St. Paul Lutheran Church,

I wanted to write a quick note of gratitude for the opportunity to serve as your pastor. It is in the excitement and hope of our ministry together that I accept the call to serve. I look forward to hearing your stories and learning how God has used your Church to make a difference in the world. It will be important for me to take time and listen and pray with you when I arrive. I want to celebrate your community's history and to embrace your passions and heartbreaks. God has been busy in your community and I look forward to seeing and embracing God's handiwork there.

I thank God for the leadership of St. Paul with whom this process has been a joy. I give thanks for the call committee. I want to especially give thanks for Tim Reisen and Dave Upmeyer for their guidance and character.  I want to thank Pastor Ulmanis for preparing a way for this new call. Rest assured that St. Paul is in good hands with these leaders and I have appreciated their support greatly.

In this transition, I would appreciate your prayers. Transitions are full of goodbyes and stressors that can take a toll. Please keep Brenda, Isaac and I in your prayers. It will make a difference.

Thanks again for giving me this opportunity to serve.
--
Forever in Grace,
Rev. Justin Dittrich

The proposed first Sunday for Pastor Justin Dittrich is November 2.  Pastor Ulmanis' last Sunday will be October 19 and last working day October 31.
LSSM Connection
Supervised Independent Living Programs
This month we lift up in prayer all of the children who have aged out of foster care, especially those who are in  Lutheran Social Services of Michigan Supervised Independent Living Programs.  We pray that these children are able to find the support they need to pursue their goals after high school and beyond.  We pray for the adults and families who have opened their homes to them and show God's love to them through their care and support.
