Easter Brunch
Please come and enjoy a delicious brunch prepared by the St Paul Thrivent Builds in El Salvador team in Sandrock Hall beginning at 10:45. The buffet includes the traditional offerings of scrambled eggs and ham, along several egg casseroles, French toast and pancakes, orange juice, lemonade, coffee and tea. In support of the fundraising and fun-raising efforts, there will be a raffle for different prizes. Everyone will receive a raffle ticket with their brunch donation and additional tickets will also be sold. The suggested donation for the brunch is $8 per adult and $3 per child. Winners of the raffle will be announced after the children return from the Easter Egg Hunt.

Milestone Celebrations Welcome to the Lord's Table
On Palm Sunday April 13, we celebrated the Gift of Holy Communion with Kristyn Firchau, Christina Kirck, and Zachary Roth and their families in worship. May God richly bless these young people and their families as they journey in faith.
Affirmation of Baptism May 18
This year the entire St Paul community can join the celebration of Affirmation of Baptism in worship at 9:30 with the students who have completed their catechism studies. Please plan to attend and join in blessing them as they take this next step in their faith journey.
Stepping into the World June 8
The St Paul community celebrates the journey our young people begin from home into the world with the High School graduation milestone. Parents bless their children with quilts made by hand with love and prayer by the St Paul Pieces Be With You Quilt group.
Celebrating Our Elders
The Milestone celebration of our Elders who bless us with the story of their faith journey is moving to the fall. We look forward to sharing their thanksgiving of God's faithfulness in October.
Weird Animals are coming to tell the love and power of Jesus! July 14-18 VBS
VBS will be exciting and fun each day Monday through Friday July 14-18 in the afternoons 1-3:30 at Salem Memorial Church. There will be a kickoff lawn event Sunday afternoon and a community celebration Thursday evening for the whole family. Captive Free East Lakes will lead the music, games and fun! Please plan for your children and grandchildren to attend. Please consider how you can help. There is something for everyone to do during this fun week of worship, learning, building friendships and getting to know Jesus better! Watch for more announcements in the coming weeks.
Our Lentent journey comes to a close and we enter the ups and downs of Holy Week. This is the week we celebrate with great intensity the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. This is the week we remind ourselves what it means to be Christian and we renew our baptismal pledge of faith. This is the week we acknowledge Christ's victory over death and the promise of salvation available to us all.
We've got lots of Holy Week and Easter activities to choose from!
Gospel Yoga (Young Family) - yoga positions to tell the Easter story. Easter Cupcakes (Young Family) - hear the resurrection story, followed by a sweet treat. Holy Week (Teen Family) - take a few minutes to learn and pray about each sacred day. This is a perfect week to read Michael Theisen's new blog post The Response.

Discernment / Call Process Update
Council Highlights from the April 16, 2014 Meeting
| Discernment / Call Process Update
The Church Council reviewed and approved the Ministry Site Profile at their April 16 meeting. This is the document that describes us as a congregation, our ministry priorities, and the attributes we seek in a pastor. We will submit the Profile to the Synod as the first step in our call process for a new pastor. The Synod will review this document and begin to send us names and resumes of potential candidates. Council expressed many thanks to the Discernment Committee for their great work in preparing this document. They will provide counsel as requested to the Call Committee, but the bulk of their work is now complete. The Call Committee is meeting May 6 to plan for the interview process.
Council Highlights from the April 16, 2014 Meeting
In addition to review and approval of the Ministry Site Profile (see separate message), Council took the following actions:
*Approved a funding request to support the Youth Choir Musical "Malice in the Palace" to be presented May 4 at 4:00 pm.
*Approved Substitute Music Salaries for Organist and Chancel Choir Director
*Approved two 2-week Holidays (vacation in the US) for Pastor Ulmanis per his contract. He expects to take the time during the summer of 2014.
*Appointed Bonnie Steketee and Dave Upmeyer as delegates to the Synod Assembly May 15 - 17. Pastor Ulmanis will also be attending.
*Approved inter-fund cash management procedures to assist in cash flow.
*Received an update on Youth & Family activities planned for 2014 - 2015. A highlight will be the National Youth Gathering coming to Detroit in July 2015. There will be many volunteer opportunities related to this event.
