Adult Forum:March 2: Discussion on Endowment Fund Presenter: Gary Spezia
In Response to My Neighbourhood Dave Upmeyer - Presenter
Follow up to Adult Forum on the "My Neighbourhood" video (watch it at www.justvision.org). Part of the discussion afterward was "What can we do? Three suggestions:
- Have 1 minute? Send this form to your Congressional representatives to stop Israeli settlements: click here.
- Boycott products: SodaStream manufactures their carbonated beverage machines in the Occupied Territories, not in Israel proper as advertised.
- Check your investments to see if these companies are in your portfolio: Veolia, Motorola, Caterpillar, SodaStream. The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation (www.endtheoccupation.org) describes many other companies.
Living the Word Sunday School: Living the Word Sunday School
Today the children will learn about the unveiling of the glory of Christ in the transfiguration and connect it with His glory being unveiled for us when His Word is preached, in the water of Baptism and in the bread and wine of His Holy Supper. Children in preschool to grade 5 meet in Sandrock Hall for the opening and then move to their classroom for the lesson where they may be picked up at 11:30. The middle school youth will meet in their classroom on the second floor to discuss how in the face of God's awesome glory, Jesus grants us peace. The High School youth will meet in meet in their room to prepare the pajamas and blankets donated at St Paul for LSSM's Family Preservation Programs. An Evening with Dr Wendy Mogel Monday, March 3 at 7pm Grosse Pointe Memorial Church hosts internationally known clinical psychologist and lecture Wendy Mogel who will share her sage reflections on raising children in a world where entitlement and competition abound. Our identity as mother or father takes on a new intensity of supporter, guide and helper. We move out of the lead and the center but we also "become grand." Join us for a four-week online retreat during Lent to explore this stage of life that is humbling, awe-inspiring and grand. Facilitated by Dr. Kathie Amidei, church leader, wife, mother, and of course, grandmother. Beginning March 23, this four week experience will involve email "reflection articles" sent each week on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. (Also posted in a private virtual group for retreat participants.) Each short article is followed by reflection questions for participants. Each reflection includes practical ideas for discovering all the gifts of being "Grand." Participants are then encouraged to share their own reflections in a private virtual group. (Instructions for joining the group are provided when you register.) Cost is $29. Click here to register and for a free sample article from Kathie, introductory video, and more info.

World Day of Prayer
| Women's World Day of Prayer
Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church to Host
the Grosse Pointe/Harper Woods Annual
Women's World Day of Prayer
March 7th at 11:00 a.m.
World Day of Prayer is an international ecumenical movement of Christian women who come together to observe a common day of prayer and action each year on the first Friday of March. Each year, a different country serves as a "writer" for the worship service, interpreting the Bible in its own context and bringing to light issues of mission, justice, and peace that are important to them. The motto of the World Day of Prayer is "Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action". This year's theme is "Streams in the Desert", with Egypt being the focus country. Offerings collected during the service will be directed to non-profit organizations that deal with the issues identified by the writer country. All are invited to participate in this prayer service, followed by fellowship in the church gathering space.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is located on Harper Avenue at Bournemouth, 3 blocks east of Moross. See the World Day of Prayer website at http://www.wdp-usa.org

- Mid week Lent suppers: There are still lots of opportunities to host a midweek Lent supper. The signup sheet is posted on the bulletin board by the entrance to the Harms Fireside Room.
- Susan Mills, our nursery attendant will no longer be with us as of March 1. We thank her for her service. We are looking to hire someone for about 2½ hours every Sunday morning in the nursery.
