Adult Forum:February 23: Discussion about Contemporary servicePresenter: Paul Kvale
In Response to My Neighbourhood Dave Upmeyer - Presenter
Follow up to Adult Forum on the "My Neighbourhood" video (watch it at www.justvision.org). Part of the discussion afterward was "What can we do? Three suggestions:
- Have 1 minute? Send this form to your Congressional representatives to stop Israeli settlements: click here.
- Boycott products: SodaStream manufactures their carbonated beverage machines in the Occupied Territories, not in Israel proper as advertised.
- Check your investments to see if these companies are in your portfolio: Veolia, Motorola, Caterpillar, SodaStream. The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation (www.endtheoccupation.org) describes many other companies.
Living the Word Sunday SchoolAs a capstone celebration of Black History month, the children will express what they learned about God's call to love people of every race by creating a special craft during the opening in Sandrock Hall. Then they will continue to study the Sermon on the Mount by exploring God's call to forgive our enemies as Ananias did in serving Paul. The middle school youth will discuss the Gospel lesson's call to love unselfishly and the High School youth will work in the non-food pantry. Thrivent Builds Worldwide Team The St Paul team serving on a short-term mission trip to El Salvador July 26-August 3 has secured enough participants however we have not yet reached optimal group size. Registration remains open and on-going. Please prayerfully consider joining. For more information, contact Mary Mobley 885-0529. It's time to open your Bible and discover God's relevant wisdom for our lives today. It's an ancient book, sure, but the Word lives on forever. Take a look at one of these winter-time Bible story activities for guidance and inspiration . . . and for fun! The Best Kind of Friends (Just for Kids) - find out who is your very best friend. Bible by the Numbers (Young Family) - play a game about numbers in the Bible. Sticking Together (Teen Family) - the book of Ruth reveals truths about family. Depths of Addiction (Young Adult) - Hi, I'm Jonah and I'm avoiding reality. When Bad Things Happen (Adult/Couple) - can you come to peace with this ancient question? Find tons more Bible Story activities here. * Ever need to apologize to your child? See Michael Theisen's new blog post Waiting in the Rain. |

Chancel Choir Notes
| The Chancel Choir is preparing John Rutter's magnificent Lenten piece Requiem, which will be sung as a musical offering on Sunday, April 6 during the 9:30am service. This multi-movement work, in both Latin and English, features the choir, the organ, several vocal soloists, and six additional instrumentalists (flute, oboe, cello, harp, keyboard and timpani-all from our own congregation!). If you would like to join with the choir and participate in singing this wonderful work, rehearsals are now being held every Thursday evening from 7:45 until 8:30. If you have any questions about this, please contact Eric Miller, either on Sunday morning at church, or by phone (313-729-2320). Come and be a part of this incredible musical experience |

World Day of Prayer
| Women's World Day of Prayer
Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church to Host
the Grosse Pointe/Harper Woods Annual
Women's World Day of Prayer
March 7th at 11:00 a.m.
World Day of Prayer is an international ecumenical movement of Christian women who come together to observe a common day of prayer and action each year on the first Friday of March. Each year, a different country serves as a "writer" for the worship service, interpreting the Bible in its own context and bringing to light issues of mission, justice, and peace that are important to them. The motto of the World Day of Prayer is "Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action". This year's theme is "Streams in the Desert", with Egypt being the focus country. Offerings collected during the service will be directed to non-profit organizations that deal with the issues identified by the writer country. All are invited to participate in this prayer service, followed by fellowship in the church gathering space.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is located on Harper Avenue at Bournemouth, 3 blocks east of Moross. See the World Day of Prayer website at http://www.wdp-usa.org
