Epiphany Party

Everyone is invited to meet in the Harms Fireside room after worship for an interactive celebration.   Sunday School and the Adult Forum will resume January 12.

The People in Darkness have
seen a great light

TheChirstmasStarLet us celebrate the birth of Jesus, God incarnate in our lives! Let us turn to those whom we love and with whom we share our lives, and catch a spark of light that comes from deep within. That's the miracle presence of the Christchild! Let's pursue that light! These activities will help.

Dark Days, Bright Lights (Just for Kids) - hear Kai's touching story of Christmas.

The Christmas Star (Young Family) - notice all the mention of stars this Christmas season.

Christmas Journey Revisted (Adult/Couple) - learn a new way to connect your family with biblical journeys.

Too Cool For Christmas (Young Adult) - which type of Christmas person are you?

Missing Someone at Christmas (Teen Family) - learn to cope with grief during the holiday season.

Saint Jesus Claus (Teen Family) - away in a manger, no room for a sleigh!

Christmas Myths Busted (Teen Family) - take a quiz and learn what really happened when Jesus was born.

Minimize the Mistletoe (Teen Family) - explore the meaning and purpose of your Christmas decorations.

Listening for God
Listening for God will be starting a new book on January 8, 2014.   We invite any woman who loves reading to join us in this study of literature and faith.  We meet the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm, usually in a member's home or at church.  Started by Pastor Colleen Kamke, we have been in existence for almost 20 years now and have maintained a strong desire to support each other in faith and prayer.

If you wish to participate, please purchase (or borrow from the library) a copy of The Red Tent by Anita Diamant.  This fiction account of the life of Dinah tells the story of the traditions and turmoils of ancient womanhood.  Dinah is the sister of Joseph and his brothers from the book of Genesis.  An announcement of the exact time and place of our January meeting will be published in the bulletin in early January.  If you have questions, email Linda Bauer at linda20311@comcast.net or call 586-226-2276.  We look forward to seeing you in the New Year

Administrative Matters
Snow Days

With the weather changing and the snow flying, the church will be closed if the Grosse Pointe Schools cancel school.  If there is nasty weather on a Sunday, please call the church and check your email.  We will be leaving a message on the church answering machine as well as sending out an email.

Keys

We are trying to get an accurate accounting of our keys and need your help. If you have a church key, please contact Ray Carpentier at either 313.881.6670 or ray.carpentier@stpaulgp.org

Family Preservation Programs
family-bike-ride.jpg "Serving people as an expression of the love of Christ"

How do children end up in the foster care system and is there a way to prevent this from happening?  LSSM has created Family Preservation Programs that help keep families together. Protect MiFamily and Eastside Wrap Around are new programs that intervene with at-risk families in the Metro Detroit area Please keep LSSM's Family Preservation Programs' staff and clients in your prayers this month.
