Find out how we as a congregation can pray for and support this important branch of LSSM

Listening For God
| Listening for God will be starting a new book on January 8, 2014. We invite any woman who loves reading to join us in this study of literature and faith. We meet the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm, usually in a member's home or at church. Started by Pastor Colleen Kamke, we have been in existence for almost twenty years now and have maintained a strong desire to support each other in faith and prayer.
If you wish to participate please purchase (or borrow from the library) a copy of The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. This fiction account of the life of Dinah tells the story of the traditions and turmoils of ancient womanhood. Dinah is the sister of Joseph and his brothers from the book of Genesis. An announcement of the exact time and place of our January meeting will be published in the bulletin in early January. If you have questions, email Linda Bauer at linda20311@comcast.net or call 586-226-2276. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

CHURCH COUNCIL POSITIONS
| In December the Congregation of St. Paul will vote to fill Council positions for Vice President, Treasurer, Christian Education, Worship, and Social Action.
Although it is a serious commitment, serving on Congregation Council is a rewarding experience and a great way to serve our Church. Please give this thoughtful consideration.

Refugee Services
|
This month our focus in our prayer partnership with Lutheran Social Services of Michigan is Refugee Services. On November 17th, Rafat Ita, will share in Adult Forum what services are provided to refugees and the struggles they have encountered. The demand for resettlement services has increased with the rising unrest in the Middle East. Continue to lift refugees and the LSSM workers in your prayers in November. Today, we welcome our guests from Freedom House and present them with quilts from our "Pieces Be With You" Quilt Ministry. We congratulate Freedom House as they celebrate their 30th anniversary in providing shelter, services and care to refugees.
St. Paul Non-Food Pantry: Today we will disperse our first donation from the Non-Food Pantry. Thank you to all who have donated toiletry items and clipped coupons for the pantry shoppers! Please continue to lift up this ministry in your prayers so that we may reach the many that need these items.
Transition to Independence(TIP) Dinner on December 6th from 6 - 8:30 p.m. The Social Action Committee will host a dinner for the Wayne State Students that have aged out of foster care and are supported by the TIP program. At this dinner, the students will hear a motivational foster care alumni speak and receive their care packages that our high school students have assembled from your donations. The time frame for service is between 3 and 9 p.m. that day and the dinner will take place on the WSU campus. If you would like to help cook, serve or deliver items to the dinner, please contact Shelley Reisen (882-8099) , treisen@comcast.net or Mary Weiland (885-6326), mary@weilandfamily.com.
