February 17 Earth Day Video
Last time we attempted to observe Earth Sunday, 2012, time did not permit us to do justice to the subject. Let's try again. RENEWAL is the first feature-length documentary film to capture the vitality and diversity of today's religious/environmental activists. People of faith, regardless of their faith tradition, are becoming more and more conscious of our role as caretakers of the earth.
Presenters: Pastors

Living the Word for Children and Youth

This Sunday the children and youth will focus on Luke's account of the Temptation of Jesus (4:1-13).  The children will learn that the devil tempted Jesus to sin but He did not.  The Youth will discuss how Jesus trusted solely in God, and be encouraged to turn to God when they experience temptation, doubt and struggle. The children meet in Sandrock Hall at 10:10 for the opening and conclude the hour in their classrooms. This Sunday all youth will meet together in the middle school room upstairs.

Each Wednesday during Lent, our services will begin with a call to worship.  We will have candles placed on a crown of thorns.  Each Wednesday, a candle will be extinguished, leading up to the last candle, the Christ candle.

Our Lenten dramas are based on Luke 14:16 when Jesus told the parable of the "Banquet of the King."  The dramas focus on Christian worship.

St. David's Day Movie Night March 1

The Children's Choirs are putting on the First Annual St. David's Day Movie Night  March 1st at 6:30pm. We will be showing "The Sound of Music" Sing-a-long. All ages are invited and costumes are encouraged! We will give out prizes for best costumes during intermission. Children can come in costume or pjs and bring a pillow and sleeping bags too! For ages 2 -102! No charge and free popcorn (thanks to Todd Calleaweart) and beverages for all! We will accept freewill offerings to help buy instruments for the Children's Choirs.
We are hoping for a great turnout from the members, families and friends of St. Paul. The Welsh are known for their love of singing, so bring your voices to help celebrate St. David's Day, Friday March 1st. We will show the movie with subtitles of the lyrics for the songs, so any who wish to, can sing a long.

The nursery will be staffed. Peease sign up on the poster in the foyer!

Volunteer at Gleaners Community Food Bank

Come serve our neighbors in need of food on Saturday March 2 9am-11:30am at the Detroit warehouse.  This is a wonderful service opportunity for Lent for people of all ages.  In order to avoid waste, Gleaners now requires the actual number of volunteers in advance; sign up in the narthex.  Invite your family and friends, all are welcome.  Meet at church at 8:30 to share rides, or meet the group at Gleaners, 2131 Beaufait, Detroit. Our next volunteer date is April 27 12:30-3pm.

A Very Special Project!

Cathy Wrobel is heading up a PBWY Project of making quilts to donate to Freedom House to brighten up the beds.  She has donated material for this purpose and if you are interested in helping the group out with this project by doing some fairly straightforward piecing of a quilt top, please let her know.

For more information contact Cathy Wrobel : 313-318-8067
