Budget Status Follow Up and Re-pledge Appeal: |
Thanks to all who attended the adult forum on Sunday. One of the suggestions was to put the revenue needs in personal terms. If 100 giving units (families and individuals) gave $5 per week more (a total of $260 for the year), we'd completely close the $26,000 gap. Obviously some may be able to do more and others won't be able to do that. Please prayerfully consider increasing your pledge as you are able. Another thing to consider: If you were supporting the Vision of Growth in Ministry program over the last 5 years, consider giving a portion of that support to the general fund. Thanks to all who have supported St. Paul in time and contributions. It takes all of us doing what we can to support our ministry.
The council will review the budget at their meeting this week. To be considered in the budget planning before the Annual Meeting on January 27, we will need notice of pledge increases by Sunday, January 20. You can fill out a new pledge card, or simply call or email Gretchen Archinal ( gretchen.archinal@stpaulgp.org) at the office. Thank you for your ongoing support to St. Paul. Dave Upmeyer

Stepping into God's Word First Bibles Milestone | Students in third grade (or older if they have not yet received a Bible) are invited to attend a special workshop for our First Bibles Milestone on Saturday, January 26st beginning at 9 a.m. This workshop is designed for children and parents to learn to use their Bibles together. Bibles will be presented to the students in worship on Sunday, January 27th. Please RSVP for this event by January 16th so we can be certain to have enough Bibles for the students. There is no charge for this workshop, but free will donations are gratefully accepted that will help us to provide Bibles for students in next year's class. Please contact the church office to sign up at 881-6670, or Mary Mobley at 885-0529 for more information.

Adult Forum
January 20 A Bible Study on Mark
Presenters: K. Ward & J. Callewaert
Living the Word for children
This week the children and youth will discuss Jesus' first miracle, changing water into wine. Children in pre-school through grade 5 meet in Sandrock Hall. The children will learn that through this, Jesus showed that He is God. Through God's Word and physical means-water, bread, and wine-God shows us that Jesus is our Savior. The youth will discuss the truth that God has the power change our lives. They will be encouraged to identify and celebrate the gifts God gives them.

A Very Special Project! | Cathy Wrobel is heading up a PBWY Project of making quilts to donate to Freedom House to brighten up the beds. She has donated material for this purpose and if you are interested in helping the group out with this project by doing some fairly straightforward piecing of a quilt top, please let her know. Also, if you are available on MLK Day feel free to stop by the church and see what we are doing at our in-house retreat !

Habitat for Humanity Update |
Next Habitat Grosse Pointe Partners Volunteer Opportunity. St. Paul will host the 2nd Saturday Build on February 9, 2013 from 8 am to 4 pm. We will meet in our parking lot at 7:45 am to carpool to the work site. We most likely will be working inside rehabbing houses (possibly stripping wall paper and painting) in the Morningside area, just across Mack Avenue and east of Alter Road. We will need about 10 volunteers for that day. Call Dave Upmeyer (881-9522) or email upmeyers@hotmail.com to sign up. There are similar opportunities during the week throughout January for those able to work then. I'm also still looking for someone to coordinate these activities with the Grosse Pointe Partners. Thanks
