 | Believe in Me
|
I watched Believe in Me by myself - my husband was too interested in the Blackhawks game. But he did come out a few times to see why I was laughing out loud. Maybe it was all the Oaklahoma accents, or maybe it was Jeffrey Donovan's adorable, confused facial expressions. Or maybe it was the 1950's soundtrack. In fact, the whole premise of the movie was just . . . cute! This is the true story of an aspiring, young basketball coach, hoping to advance his career as the head coach of a winning high school men's basketball team. Unfortunately, he gets assigned to the school's losing girls' team instead. Not great for his career, but really great for a movie plot! As he navigates his way through the unique world of female teenagers, he is surprised to find out that they want to be treated just like boys. They want to work hard, be asked much of, and above all, be given a chance to prove themselves and to win. Although not a new movie (2008) and not a "Christian" movie (all three swear words have been silenced out) it's one worth watching. This show has all the emotional struggles and joyous triumphs that a typical Cinderalla sports team movie has. There's even a really touching twist at the end. Sweet, cute, touching are all words I would use to describe this show. (If that doesn't convince the men in your life to watch it with you, I don't know what will!) - Taralyn
