Volunteer Orientation
Calling all K9Splash! volunteers. Be sure to join us at Bever Park Pool on Thursday, August 22 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm for volunteer orientation. We will go over job descriptions and assignments, hand out T-shirts, and answer questions.

We will also be registering dogs belonging to volunteers. Additional dogs from the same owner may be registered at this time at pre-registration rates.  Hope to see you there!

T-Shirts
K9COLA will be selling K9Splash! T-shirts again this year for $15.00 each or two for $25.00. These will be available at the T-shirt table inside the pool area.

What's for Lunch?
Hy-Vee will be grilling delicious burgers and brats for lunch or for an afternoon snack after you enjoy water fun with your dog! Ten percent of all sales will go back to K9COLA.

Dog Spa
Nail trimming will be available Saturday and Sunday afternoon for a nominal fee.

K9Splash is Two Weeks Away!

K9Splash! Can you believe it is almost time for THE WEEKEND THAT GOES TO THE DOGS?

Pre-registration ends on August 19 at 5:00
pm. Pre-register at Ambroz Recreation Center.

Remember, you need to have proof of vaccinations (rabies, parvo and distemper) before your dog can enter the pool. If you have a current 2013 park tag, you can use that as proof of vaccinations.

Crunch-It Dog Toy

Exciting news this year! We have a fun new toy you can buy for your dog. Many dog owners spend money on pricey toys, only to discover that their pets enjoy playing with simple household items more than anything else. The custom-made Crunch-It Dog Toy is a simple but effective puppy plaything (for puppies of all ages) which will offer hours of fun for both you and your best friend. It can be purchased at K9Splash!.

Here's how it works. The end of the toy opens up, allowing a space for an empty water bottle. Just take your disposable plastic bottle, squeeze the air out of it, screw on the cap as tightly as you can, and then insert it into the toy sleeve. The result? A toy that makes a loud crunching noise whenever your pup bites down on it! The heavy duty ring allows for intense games of tug-o-war with your doggie friend, too.

Volunteers Still Needed

We are still looking for help from volunteers. If you are interested, please contact volunteer headquarters at k9splashvolunteers@gmail.com.
Please indicate the job you would like to do, time, and T-shirt size. We are almost there but still have a few shifts where we need YOUR help.

Mt. Vernon Dog Park

Congratulations to our neighbors to the east! Capping their fundraising efforts, the Mt. Vernon Dog Park Committee was pleased to receive a $10,000 donation, and this past week the fence was installed at The Nancy Doreen Huffman Dog Park. It is slated to open in September. Best of all, this park is free!

That's not all the exciting news: the group will also be hosting their annual dog swim, Paws in the Pool, on Tuesday, September 3, from 3:30 to 7:00 pm at the Mt. Vernon pool. Admission is just $5 and all proceeds go towards the new dog park. The group is looking for volunteers to help with the event. If you are interested and able to help, contact kim.c.tucker@gmail.com. Volunteers will receive a free entry for their efforts.

Thanks again for your interest in our dog parks, and we'll look forward to seeing you at the park!

Sincerely,
K9COLA Board of Directors
