Volunteers are needed to staff the K9COLA booth at the Cedar Rapids Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, August 3rd and 17th.

Dogs Head Downtown in August

Downtown Cedar Rapids will go to the dogs Wednesdays in August. And that's a good thing.

For the fourth year, pooches from Cedar Rapids Animal Care & Control will have a chance to stretch their legs in the green space around the Tree of Five Seasons on First Avenue NE. Read More

A Dog Treat Recipe

Here's another treat dogs will love. Consider baking some for us to sell at the Farmers Markets! Please include a recipe or list of ingredients. Here are more ideas for treats!

Pooch Munchies

3 c. whole wheat flour
1 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 c. soft bacon fat
1 c. shredded cheese
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. milk

Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Place four and garlic salt in a large bowl. Stir in bacon fat. Add cheese and egg. Gradually add enough milk to form a dough. Knead dough and roll out to about 1/4" thick. Use dog bone cookie cutter to cut out dough. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake about 12 minutes, until they start to brown. Cool and serve.
