Purchasing Park Permits
Two Discounts Available Again

Permits/tags (or daily passes) are required for all dogs using the Cedar Rapids off-leash dog parks. 2013 permits go on sale December 1, 2012. Only one permit is necessary for the two parks. (K9 Acres, the new park, is expected to open in the spring or early summer.)

The base fee for a permit is $27. Though paying full price means permit fees have increased a bit, in fact everyone has the opportunity for two $5 discounts, which means you could end up paying even less for your permit in 2013! ($25 permit fee - $5 discount in 2012 = $20. $27 permit fee - $10 discount [$5 x 2] = only $17!)

You qualify for a $5.00 discount if your dog is spayed or neutered, OR if you are purchasing permits for more than one dog (you may choose only one of these discounts, and the multiple dog discount is not available for your first dog). In addition, you qualify for a second $5.00 discount if your dog has passed a recall test offered by K9COLA (this is a one-time test and passing means $5.00 off the cost of your permit each year for the life of your dog. See article just below or email info@k9cola.org for information on test dates).

You will need proof of vaccinations (rabies, parvo, distemper) from your vet to purchase a permit. If your dog has passed the K9COLA recall test in the past, you will need to show the test certificate to get that discount. Daily permits will be available for $6 at the dog parks if you just want to try them out, or if you are visiting the area.

Permits are available from Cedar Rapids Animal Care & Control (2109 N Towne Ln NE; phone is 286-5993; email AnimalControl@cedar-rapids.org); hours are Monday through Saturday 12-5 p.m., closed Sunday. Follow this link to get a copy of the Dog Park Permit Application or get it at the Animal Control site. Note: Animal Control is a little difficult to find as it is set off from the road about 100 yds.

Recall Tests Offered in December
Pass the Test, Get a Discount!
Qualify for a lifetime discount on your dog's park permit! K9COLA will offer recall tests on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Cheyenne Park. Tests begin at 11:00 a.m. There is no charge, and your dog(s) do not need to have a permit or a daily pass to come out to take the test! If your dog passes the recall test, you will get a certificate entitling you to a $5.00 discount off the cost of a park permit, good each year for the life of your dog. If interested, email info@k9cola.org, or just come on out. Note: check out the article just above for permit fee details.
We appreciate your continued interest in the Cedar Rapids metro area's off-leash parks, and we'll look forward to seeing you at the park!

Sincerely,
K9COLA Board of Directors
