As a nurse, an alumna of foster care, and a recent graduate of the nursing science PhD program at the University of Washington, I want to announce that the results of the Foster Care Adversity Study have been accepted for publication in The Permanente Journal, a peer-reviewed journal of medical science, social science in medicine, and medical humanities

"Life threw me a curve"
Elizabeth Taylor's Story, CA 2013

Elizabeth Taylor, an alumna of foster care, overcame many of the obstacles and challenges many of us from foster care face. But after foster care, she found herself dealing with many new and unexpected life challenges. While the Foster Care Adversity Study examined the relationship between childhood experiences and adult well-being, many alumni of foster care like Elizabeth also shared painful experiences subsequent to exiting the foster care system. Elizabeth shared about what both her and her son went through after being separated from each other for so many years. To read more about Elizabeth's story and learn more about what she is doing today, please click here.
