Children's Sunday School Helpers

We are looking for a few folks who would be willing to provide a helping hand for our Children's Sunday school.

This can be done on a rotational basis and doesn't require preparation or teaching.

I'd be glad to!

We are the people of the United Methodist Church.

Notes from the Road is one of the ways that we at Journey stay connected. Connections and community are keys to a vital church ... and are part of what keeps us bound together in the service of Christ.

So, welcome to you as we journey together on the road where we as a spirit-filled, forward-leaning community of believers seek to become the hands and feet of Jesus.
Bits and Bytes
Community Focus!

The kids at Casa Blanca Community School have become part of our extended Journey family.  Each year, Journey folks participate in a variety of events designed to mentor and support academic efforts. While we are there to support, all involved will tell you that everyone walks away better for the time spent!

Casa Blanca Community School is a single-school district that serves about 250 students in grades K-4.
The district is located in Bapchule, on the Gila River Indian Reservation. This region was historically the center of the Pima villages and the community takes pride in being known as the agricultural hub for the Maricopa and Pima tribes.

Our fall 2016-2017 school year plans include:
  • Back to School Supplies Drive (going on now)
  • Halloween/Fall Festival (October)
Opportunities to help support this community outreach are many. If you would like to be kept up-to-date about our efforts with Casa Blanca School, let us know!
What We Did On Our Summer Vacation
(Journey Kids)

Phew!  As the summer is coming to an end, we can take time for a look back.

What a great summer!

Our Journey kids started the summer with Vacation Bible School at the end of May. For 3 fabulous days, we had a Baobab Blast (Gods Great Get Together).  We crafted, sang, shared stories, and swam. A great time was had by all.

That was just the beginning! This summer, Miss Deb decided to keep Children's Sunday School active all summer long! The kids continued to get into God's word by starting Sunday mornings by taking a glimpse into the scripture and message given each Sunday by our Pastors. Every Sunday included not only the scripture and message discussion, but a fun craft that tied it all together. There was even time to watch a video or two, sing songs, and play a few games.

Our older youth kicked the summer off by going to UltraStar for food, fellowship, and fun. It was a time to enjoy each other's company before vacations took many to destinations far and wide.

Now that school is back in session, Miss Deb and the kids are looking forward to continuing the Journey. New activities are being planned for all ... and rumor has it that, even though summer is coming to an end, the older youth have a swim party in the works.

Stay tuned!

Pastor Terry

As a commentary on the importance of human interaction, the English poet John Donne once wrote, "no man is an island unto himself." From the moment each of us is born, we are initiated into a societal collective.  We become a part of something we all desperately need, a community.  Human beings were created to...
