Greetings!

It's been a delightful summer on Cape Cod. Not only was it filled with gorgeous beach days but thanks to some local press from Cape Cod Times columnist Sean Gonsalves, we garnered attention from our Governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick, in the form of a congratulatory letter.
We ran a press release via Business Wire that got picked up by the following news agencies in under two hours of it's release by:
as well as a dozen others.
We are looking forward to continuing the celebration at the events ceremony which will take place in Orlando, FL on November 7, 2013. By November we won't mind leaving Cape Cod for some Florida sunshine since that cold weather will likely be upon us by then. We head to Indianapolis, IN next
this weekend for the Fall National Meeting of the American Chemical Society. I organized symposia for three Divisions: Chemical Information: CINF, Environmental Chemistry: ENVR and Small Chemical Businesses: SCHB. I provide descriptions and links to more information below about each symposium below.

Role and Value of Social Networking in Advancing the Chemical Sciences
I co-organized this day long symposium together with Antony Williams, VP Strategic Development, Head of Cheminformatics for Royal Society of Chemistry. If you tweet or follow science blogs you've likely heard of him: @chemconnector andchemconnector.com. Antony and I first met at the American Chemical Society Fall National Meeting in Denver where I hosted a tweetup. Here's more
about the #ACSDenver tweetup-note that Antony and I are directly across from one another in the tweetup photo.

Many thanks to Joe Sabol, my ACS Small Chemical Businesses Division Program Chair, who discovered via social media that both Antony and I were planning a Social Media in Science session for #ACSindy and one call was all it took to determine that we should merge and co-organize under the ACS Division of Chemical Information (CINF) banner with the ACS Division of Small Chemical Businesses (SCHB) as a co-sponsor.

Our Morning social networking symposium in Indianapolis on September 9, 2013 will feature talks  focused on Social Media for the Individual Scientist and to Support Education. We will be using a session hashtag: #smchem in addition to the conference hashtag: #ACSindy. We are hoping that we will have many live tweeters in our audience. I am hoping to do a bit of it myself  from  @pidgirl but from experience it proves more challenging from the presider's position at the front of the room having to keep the session on time and all.

Our Monday afternoon social networking session features talks on Social Media to Share Science with the Community and the Sharing of Chemical Information. We are delighted to have the presence of Senior Editor of C&EN, Carmen Drahl, who will be live tweeting from our session using the hashtag: #WHERESCARMEN as well as facilitating our social media in science panel discussion. An interactive workshop led by the morning and afternoon presenters will then occur. Surely there will be a blog post about it by next newsletter if you don't see any Linked-In updates about it in the meantime.

Northeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society NERM2013 October 23-26 in New Haven, CT. I am organizing the ACS Division of Small Chemical Businesses track at this Regional Meeting. Papers close September 13, 2013. Contact me today if you would like to present a talk in Resources for Startups, Best Practices for Entrepreneurs and/or True Stories of Success from Chemical Entrepreneurs. Note that there are excellent sponsorship opportunities available. See here for more information.
