Annual Construction Safety Day - Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Each year, the Annual Winter Conference includes a day dedicated to safety. Companies that instill a culture of safety throughout all levels experience improvements in quality, efficiency and productivity. Estimating & Bidding
Tuesday, February 23, 2016 - 9:00 - 11:45 am
The goal was to develop the "perfect" estimating system that recovers the "perfect overhead." However, after bidding over a billion dollars in work personally, and conducting extensive research with clients and other consulting firms, Charles decided that in reality, there is not a perfect estimating system. His system is a Multiple Overhead Recovery System (MORS) that is based on the premise that there are different variables on each and every job, not to mention the different expenses each company has that must be considered. MORS was developed to consider the changing variables that are unique to each company, and each job, and to allocate the proper amount of overhead to the material, labor, equipment, and subs throughout the year in order to make a profit.

Balancing Estimating, Job Costing & Accounting

We will discuss in detail the importance of balancing each system, and how to check them against each other to ensure accurate information. Also covered will be overhead recovery, profit/loss statements and budgeting.
MBI has brought 2015 keynote speaker Steve Siemens back for the 2016 conference as a session presenter. You don't want to miss his session on developing leadership skills!

Brain Waves of a Leader
Tuesday, February 23, 2016 - 9:00 - 11:45 am
Leaders are different from most people in many ways. Likewise, leaders are different from each other in many ways, but one common ground that all leaders share is in the way they think. The new millennium will require more productive thinking than ever before. Participants in this session will leave thinking more productively and discover how leaders think, by learning:
  • Ten ways that leaders think.
  • Ten phrases that limit our thinking and what can be done to offset the influences these phrases have.
  • Seven tools to help you be more creative.
  • How to evaluate their "thinking" and pick two areas to improve upon by writing a goal for each area.
  • Fifteen things emerging leaders need to know.
  • How to understand the fact that a leader can never stop thinking.
