WORKSAFE Update: 200 Projects and Counting!

The 200th WORKSAFE project was enrolled into the program last week! WORKSAFE has been steadily growing since it began in the fall of 2012, and the United Fire Group dividend-paying casualty program is introducing WORKSAFE to contractors who otherwise may not have been involved with the program. Thank you to all of the contractors and owners who have participated. We try hard to ensure the program provides your projects with benefits that you can't get anywhere else.

The demonstrated benefits are an overall awareness by workers that safety is emphasized on the project, that everyone on the site must work together to make it a safe place to work, and that this attitude can be carried over to other projects. The contractor and owner get the added benefit that the public is made aware that something special is being done on the site regarding safe working conditions.

If you're not a regular WORKSAFE user, you should be. Contact Tom Suckow at tsuckow@mbionline.com or 515-657-4384 for more information on how your projects can benefit from WORKSAFE.

Limited Sponsorship Availabilities for Golf

We are pleased to announce that only 5 sponsorships remain of the 44 available at this year's MBI-PAC Construction Golf Classic & Smoker!  The 16th Annual MBI-PAC Construction Golf Classic & Smoker will be held on Monday, August 24th, 2015 at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, IA.

We sell out the roster for 152 golfers each year and we are working to sell out the sponsorships.  Sponsoring the event is a great way for your company to support the MBI-PAC and our continued efforts to support pro-business, pro-construction policymakers.  The Golf Classic & Smoker has grown into the premier fundraiser for the MBI-PAC and the fee to golf in the event is $425 per person and includes a complete day of food, drinks, fun and comradery with others from the industry.  We have 23 foursomes reserved already for this year's event!

We invite and urge you to help support the MBI-PAC and the construction industry by becoming a sponsor of this first-class event!  The roster of attendees and sponsors that will be on hand is hard to find anywhere else, especially all in one place at the same time.  If you are interested in getting involved with the Construction Golf Classic & Smoker and would like more information, please contact Tania Bowman at (515) 657-4390 or tbowman@mbionline.com.  The remaining five sponsorships are listed below.

Register Early for Leadership Programs

Master Builders of Iowa is in the midst of planning, scheduling, and coordinating all of the training programs that will make up the 2015-16 training season.  Just as we are in preparation for the training season, we are providing MBI member firms with the opportunity to do some advanced planning of their own.  As you may know, each of the following programs has a limit on the number of individuals who can participate, so if you would like to pre-register your employees in any of our popular leadership series, simply email MBI Director of Education, Tom Fulcher at tfulcher@mbionline.com.

Cornerstone Academy will consist of five (5) two-day sessions throughout the state scheduled once a month beginning in October.

This construction leadership training program is designed to introduce attendees to several facets of the commercial construction industry, while providing them with a wealth of valuable information and priceless resources.

Project Manager / Supervisor High Performance Leadership Series will be held in two (2) two-day sessions in January.

This leadership training program brings project managers and project supervisors together to address common jobsite issues such has jobsite control, safety, planning and scheduling, technology and more.

The Leadership Experience is made up of four (4) two-day sessions throughout the state scheduled once a month beginning in December.  This popular leadership series is heading into its 4th season and addresses the areas of communication, collaboration, culture, and customer and will challenge your employees to be better, stronger, and more dependable leaders in these areas, and so much more.

The 2015-16 Master Builders of Iowa season offers something for everyone on your leadership team, so we encourage you to take advantage of this pre-registration opportunity to assure you and your employees are able to attend the leadership training program they wish.
