Celebrating 15 years of effort, because #GreenBuildingsAreBetter!
Green buildings are better for people, the environment, and the bottom line. They steward natural resources and lower our environmental impacts. And they are healthier places for building occupants, which is especially important because Americans spend 90% of our time indoors.

15 years ago, 15 committed volunteers came together to form one of the first six USGBC Chapters in the country - because they believed that green buildings are better. At that time, you could count the number of LEED buildings on your fingers. Your USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter has been educating and advocating on behalf of green building ever since then. Now we can celebrate:
  • 375 commercial LEED certified building
  • 115 residential LEED certified buildings
  • More than 1,300 individuals with a LEED professional credential
  • Over 500 chapter members
But our work is far from over. Our goal is that every building is a green building within this generation, and this is only possible with widespread community support. Join us in our work to support buildings of all types to green their design, construction & operations!

Explore www.greenbuildingsarebetter.org to learn how you can show your support: make a donation, attend an event, volunteer, become a member or sponsor, host our Green Buildings Are Better display, and more! If you believe that Green Buildings Are Better, there is a way to get involved!

State of the Chapter & Social
January 12, 5:30 pm
It's that time of year . . . but not just any year . . . our 15th year!

Green Building Experts Program Recognizes Lawrence Lile
The Green Building Experts program was established to celebrate USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter members who have achieved third-party recognition for their green building and sustainability expertise, promotion and advocacy. The program recently recognized Lawrence Lile

Lawrence presented his seminar "Resilience Is the New Sustainability" at the Sustainable Living Fair in Columbia, MO, and at the USGBC Central Plains Chapter Continuing Education Blitz in Kansas City.

Explore Lawrence's recognition and all of the Green Building Experts on our website.
Benchmarking Case Study: 600 Washington
The 25x20 Voluntary Energy Benchmarking Campaign challenges buildings in the St. Louis Region to benchmark their energy use. Energy benchmarking is the key to unlocking potential energy and cost savings. Since the campaign was launched, businesses, local governments, houses of worship, schools, and institutions have pledged to benchmark their energy use!

25x20 participants include 600 Washington, now featured in the first 25x20 benchmarking case study! This 25-story office building benchmarks to identify anomalies in energy and water use, as a marketing tool to attract tenants, and to evaluate opportunities for facility improvements. Check out their 25x20 case study to learn more about their experience benchmarking, and visit the 25x20 website to view the full list of participants!
