LEED Showcase: A Look at Performance Approved for LEED Specific CE Hour

The 2015 LEED Showcase will revisit several buildings that were previously showcased and have achieved LEED certification for a discussion on building performance. Projects include the Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 building, Alberici Headquarters, and the home of Maren Engelmohr. Presentations will exhibit the successes and realities of operating LEED buildings after construction. This program has been approved for 1 LEED-Specific (BD+C, Homes) GBCI CE Hour and 1 AIA LU/HSW.

Measuring the ROI of High Performance Buildings

Tuesday, February 24, 3:00 - 5:00 pm
High performance buildings are energy efficient, cost-effective to operate and maintain, and enhance the productivity of the occupants. During this seminar, presenters Eric Merker & Adam Rustige of Sitton Energy Solutions will discuss how to measure the return-on-investment of high performance buildings, including staff time saved, occupant productivity, and increase in facility value.
This in-depth session has been submitted for approval of 2 GBCI CE Hours and 2 AIA/CES LU.

Green Your House of Worship
Community Workshop & Special Volunteer Opportunity

Sunday, February 22, 1:00 - 4:30 pm
Get started greening your house of worship! At this workshop, attendees will:
- Learn about the results of the ten congregational energy audits awarded by the USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter and Missouri Interfaith Power & Light
- Become familiar with strategies for financing energy efficiency improvements
- Discover ways your house of worship can better serve your congregation
- Begin to develop a low-cost, high-impact action plan to green your house of worship and meet expert volunteers that can help you get started.
Members of all faiths and denominations are encouraged to participate. This workshop is free, but pre-registration is required online.

St. Louis County Waste Reduction Grants

Since 1996, the St. Louis County Department of Health's Solid Waste Management Program has provided grants to help fund innovative and sustainable programs to improve waste diversion in St. Louis County. The grant program is open to any municipality, public institution, not-for-profit organization, or business, and the project must occur in St. Louis County. Funding for the grant program comes from St. Louis County voter-approved landfill surcharge fees.
The 2015 grant round is open, and the deadline for submissions is Friday, March 20th at 5 pm. A grant workshop will take place on Monday, February 23, 9:00 - 10:30 am at the St. Louis County Health Campus. BUILDING THE HEARTLAND

The BuildingChicago/Greening the Heartland conference, which launched in 2013, has been renamed BUILDING THE HEARTLAND. The conference will be held August 31- September 2 at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza, Chicago's first LEED Gold hotel. "We wanted to broaden the conference content to provide discussion of new technology, the residential market, and the needs of owners, developers, and occupants of buildings," says Robert Cassidy, the Conference chairman. "BUILDING THE HEARTLAND will still be about 50% 'green' in content, with sessions that cover environmental responsibility, sustainability, resiliency, and healthy building." EBies Open 2015 Call for Entries

The EBies recognize the unsung heroes of existing buildings, highlighting the building operators, facilities managers, owners, engineers, retro-commissioning agents and other professionals who have conceived and implemented work to improve their building's environmental performance. Focus areas include energy, water, operations, materials use, lighting, portfolio-wide improvements, and tenant engagement. The submission deadline for the 2015 Ebies is March 30th.
