USGBC-Missouri Gateway Blog

If you're a Chapter member, you can submit posts for our blog. See blog guidelines.
If you'd rather connect in person, we offer that option as well! Join us at a monthly program - generally the second Tuesday of every month, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Learn more about Chapter programs.

In Memory of Brooks Critchfield
It was with sadness that we learned of the passing of Brooks Critchfield on January 15 after her battle with cancer. Brooks was a member of the Chapter for 8 years and a champion of sustainable design and construction. She oversaw the LEED process onsite for many projects, ensuring that the project team complied with green building requirements and guidelines.

Since her passing, many Chapter members have expressed their respect for Brooks. We shared some of their stories on our website. The USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter has made a donation to Forest Park Forever in memory of Brooks, and our thoughts are with her family.

Save the Date: Growing Green Awards
March 27

The USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter's Growing Green Awards celebrate and recognize the people and organizations that are actively transforming the built environment while sharing their knowledge of green building and sustainable practices. Proceeds from the Growing Green Awards Celebration fund the Chapter's on-going education and outreach efforts so that everyone has access to green building and green communities.

This year the Growing Green Awards will be on March 27th at the Mad Art Gallery in Soulard. Stay tuned for the announcement of the nominees and registration details!

Limited Time Offer: Free
USGBC Membership for Schools
For a limited time, the Center for Green Schools is offering preK-12 schools and school districts one free year of USGBC membership.

In addition to the many benefits of national membership, schools and districts that sign up during this promotion receive three free registrations to the Green Classroom Professional Program, eligibility to apply for Trailblazing Teacher Micro-grants, and eligibility for scholarships to the School Sustainability Leaders Summit.

25% of Americans go to school each day to work and learn (we're guessing that you know a few of them). Share this great opportunity with your neighborhood school, your teacher friend, or your children's school!

More information is available on the Center for Green Schools Website

Complete details can be found at www.EBies.org.

The EBie submission period is January 8 through March 20, 2014. Winners will be announced LIVE at the EBie Awards on June 9, 2014 in New York City.
