Join us for an evening of Retro-Commissioning!

Presented in partnership with ASHRAE- St. Louis

Retro-Commissioning (ReCx) is an analysis of an existing building's operation, maintenance, and use that yields an efficiency baseline. Speaker Ross Watson will introduce the common phases in the ReCx process and the lessons learned from each. He will discuss how design and construction details can shorten the life of a building, share images of poor maintenance practices, and discuss how to avoid them. Attendees will gain an understanding of the intricacies of a variety of his retro-commissioning projects- including 90 Air Force facilities across Alaska and the Art Institute of Chicago's Modern Wing addition.

10th Anniversary of Greening the Heartland in Chicago!

This is the tenth anniversary of Greening the Heartland, the USGBC's Midwest regional conference! The conference will take place in Chicago on September 9th and 10th, co-located with the BuildingChicago conference.

This year's conference theme is resilience- sessions encourage robust discussion of how the Heartland's building industry is evolving to embed resilience into its solutions for the built environment. Topic areas include
Health & Environmental Quality, High Performance Buildings & Building Science, Design for Resilience, Green Technologies & Materials, Natural Capitalism, Sustainable Community & Campus, Process, and more!

To learn more and register visit the 2013 Greening the Heartland Website!

There's still time to submit your presentation for our 2nd Annual DIY Sustainability Program!

We've extended the deadline for proposals for our
September 10th DIY Sustainability Program!

We are still seeking presenters and topic ideas surrounding the theme of 'DIY' (Do It Yourself) Sustainability. Presentations will be made using the Pecha Kucha format which draws its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat" and allows presenters to showcase 20 slides that are set on a timer for 20 seconds per slide.

Preference will be given to topics relevant to the built environment, but all ideas are welcome and encouraged!
