TRAVELING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON?
travel-tips-banner.gifIf you are traveling this holiday season, please remember to bring along copies of your emergency documents, such as your medical power of attorney and health care release. Some of my clients participate in the Docubank program, which provides you with an emergency ID card in your wallet that would allow online access to these important documents. You also want to make sure that your family and loved ones know that you have these documents and know where you keep them. If you need any advice or have questions about the best way to make sure your documents are accessible in case of emergency while traveling, please reach out to us!
A WILL IS NOT ENOUGH: UPDATE YOUR BENEFICIARIES ON LIFE INSURANCE & RETIREMENT!
Did you know that most of your assets may not even be controlled by your Will? Beneficiary designations on life insurance, retirement, brokerage accounts, and annuities (to name a few) all override anything your Will states. Furthermore, if you have a trust in your Will for kids, then you will want to direct your life insurance and retirement beneficiaries to the trust, NOT to the children directly. If you name a minor child as a beneficiary on such assets, even with a Will, the money will be controlled by the court and given to the child at age 18.

The best thing you can do is make sure you are getting the proper legal advice in addition to drafting a Will! Watch this video for more information:

GIVE THE GIFT OF PEACE OF MIND!

Still winter-gift-holding.jpg looking for the perfect gift this holiday season?

Of course you can get the latest video game system, a flat screen TV, or another piece of jewelry, but have you ever considered a Will as a present? Sounds a bit strange at first, but what better way to help out your loved one who just got married, had a baby, or bought their first home? These are just some of the key life events that necessitate a properly drafted Will.
Most families place drafting a Will or Trust on their "to-do" list, but as our busy lives get in they way, this vital planning gets pushed to the bottom of the list. Sadly, many people never get back to their list until it's too late. Don't let that happen to your loved ones!

This year, think outside the typical gift box and instead give theGIFT OF PEACE OF MIND!
