Varsity:  3/25/14 Sharks Win 8th  game in a row, defeating Gulliver Prep 12-4
It was a slow start for the PV Varsity as they returned from Spring Break and hosted the Gulliver Prep Raiders Tuesday night. Both teams were scoreless until 5:18 in the first quarter when senior Jason Randolph hit the back of the net for the first goal. That was followed by a goal from Cody Legeza to close out the first quarter. Sharks goalie Colin Peaks and Raiders goalie Lucas Altman came up with big saves in the first half. Eric Applegate, RJ Garcia and Garrett Boyle added goals in the 2nd half for the Sharks but Gulliver Prep was able to close the gap to 5-2 at intermission. Junior Miles Silva owned the third quarter for PV with four consecutive goals.  Raiders middie Ryan Cordero was credited with a hat trick but Ponte Vedra was able to add three more unanswered goals in the 4th to secure the 12-4 win.

Miles Silva (4-0-4), Logan Taucher (2-1-3),  Jason Randolph (2-0-2), Cody Legeza (1-2-3), Eric Applegate (1-1-2), RJ Garcia (1-1-2), Garrett Boyle (1-1-2) Colin Peaks 7 Saves

3/27/14 Sharks fall short in OT against top-ranked Jupiter.
The Sharks varsity hit the road on Thursday night making the trek to Jupiter for their toughest test of the season. The #1 ranked Warriors were coming off two consecutive losses. Weather conditions were not optimal, as much of the game was played in a light rain. Senior defender Parker Eastland broke a 1-1 tie late in the first quarter when he scooped up a ground ball, took it down the field and popped it in the goal to give PV a 2-1 lead after 1. The Warriors owned the 2nd quarter, scoring four unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead at the half.
The Sharks re-adjusted at halftime and came out in the third quarter determined to close the gap. Senior Cody Legeza was able to escape 3 defenders and score-then added a second goal a short time later.  With the Jupiter goalie in the penalty box and a new goalie in place, Miles Silva scored on a pass from RJ Garcia to tie it up at 5. The scoring went back and forth the rest of the quarter with Silva scoring again and Grey Larsen winning a faceoff and taking it unassisted to the goal.  Tied at 7 starting the 4th quarter, Silva and Jason Randolph hit the back of the net to increase PV's lead to 2, but the Warriors answered back with 2 goals.  PV maintained possession for the last two minutes of the game, but couldn't get any shots to connect.
Time for OT and the Warriors won the faceoff. The Sharks defense held them at bay, but Jupiter's Michael Dean got off a shot that was the game winner. It was a great matchup and if form holds true, there could be a rematch in the playoffs. The Sharks were scheduled to play Hagerty on Saturday night but that game was cancelled due to weather.
Miles Silva (3-0-3), Cody Legeza( 2-1-3), RJ Garcia (1-0-1), Jason Randolph 1-0-1)., Parker Eastland 1-0-1), Grey Larsen 1-0-1),Eric Applegate (0-1-1)
Colin Peaks 7 Saves

Junior Varsity:
On Monday, March 24, the JV Boys' Lacrosse team overcame some sloppy play early in the game to beat the Creekside Knights 12-3 at PVHS.  Hal Swan started the game with a rocket shot off the post and finished the game with two assists.  Jude Kuhn lead all scorers with 5 goals and 1 assist.  Andrew O'Dare had 4 goals, the last off of an assist by Sean Hoffman from the LSM position.  Clay Welch, Reid Smith, and Marshall Few each had 1 goal.  The defense played stout all night with goalie Bronson Holley making some big saves.

The games on the calendar for March 25th and 29th were both cancelled.
This week the Sharks look forward to resuming play as they face the local Bolles team on Tuesday, April 1st at Bolles and hit the road to play Melbourne Central Catholic on Wednesday, April 2nd.  They return home to host a Friday night game on April 4th, against Bishop Moore at 5:30.  Come out Friday night and support the PVHS undefeated JV Boys' Lacrosse team!

Sport Medicine Golf Scramble
The Saint Johns County Sports Medicine Council is planning a charity golf scramble benefitting the sports medicine programs of your high schools. The event will be held at the St. Johns Golf & Country Club on May 18, 2014. The cost will be $100 per person and $380 per foursome.  A coach's foursome will also receive a $100 discount.

The Council hopes that this will be a great event where the staffs of all county high schools can come together to benefit the health of all student-athletes in Saint Johns County. Together, we can do more!

We would really like to see maximum participation by the coaching and administrative staffs of each school, the parents of your student-athletes, and your booster clubs. Please impress upon your staff and support that this is a direct benefit to your program and will be proportional to their participation.

We will have more information on registration and ensuring the success of this event. Please plan to come out and join for us a great day of fun and fellowship for a great cause!
