Scorecard
Aquatics:
The Ponte Vedra Sharks sank the St Augustine Yellow Jackets at their first swim meet of the season last Thursday.  The girls won 225-61.  The boys won 166-96. Nearly a third of the Shark team is incoming freshman, so there was a bit of an unknown going into this meet.  After the opening relays there was no doubt about how well the newcomers would contribute to the team.

In the 200 IM Relay the girls team of McKenna Johnson, Lily Norenberg, Madison Michaels and Hannah Santillo took first place, the team of Luiza Serrano, freshmen Jenny Norenberg, Carly Voytecek and Elizabeth Garcia took second and the team of Mary Jacobsen, Wendy Parkulo, Kelley Hall and freshman Emily Voytecek got fourth.  The boys team of Logan Teate, Danny Camacho, Chris Kennedy and Kadeem LaFargue took first place and the team of Jonathon Magiske, Jacob Shalz, Thomas Snyder and freshman Sean Hoffman took third.

In the 200 Free Brigid Morgan won easily with Emily Benson taking second and freshmen Emily Voytecek and Carly Roberts with fourth and fifth.  For the boys Danny Camacho took first, freshmen James LaCour second and Thomas Snyder third.

Success continued with the 200 IM.  Emily Grace Alfaro came in first, freshman Molly Voytecek second, Lily Norenberg third and Carly Voytecek in fourth.  Chris Kennedy and Sean Hoffman took first and second for the boys.  In the girls' 50 free, Sharks Hannah Santillo and McKenna Johnson went 1 -2, while Kadeem LaFargue took first for the boys, with Eric Erhard, Jacob Shalz and Logan Teate closely following in third, fourth, and fifth.

The Shark girls completely shut out the 100 Fly.  Madison Michaels took first with Elizabeth Garcia, Molly Voytecek and Jenny Norenberg right behind with second, third and fourth.

Hannah Santillo won the 100 Free with Carly Voytecek close behind in third.  Kadeem LaFargue won for the boys with Sean Hoffman in second place.
Distance swimmers Emily Benson won the girls 500 Free and James LaCour brought home second for the boys.

The new Shark swimmers all participated in the 200 Free Relays and took all the top places.  The girls team of Emily Benson, Brigid Morgan, Molly Voytecek, and Emily Grace Alfaro took first.  Jenny Norenberg, Mary Jacobsen, Carly Voytecek and Lily Norenberg came in second.  Sarah Snyder, Kelley Hall, Wendy Parkulo and Elizabeth Garcia got third. Alexandra Bechtle, Carly Roberts, Emily Brychell and Mykala Ford got fourth.  The boys team of Eric Erhard, Sean Hoffman, Jacob Shalz and Logan Teate came in first.  James LaCour, Declan Ford, John Molm and Jackson Capelli took second.

Another outstanding freshman performance in the meet was Jenny Norenberg taking first in the 100 Breast stroke with Lily Norenberg and Emily Voytecek taking second and third.

The Sharks swim again Tuesday September 3rd at 5pm at home against Bishop Kenny.

Cross Country:
Your 2013 Shark Cross Country teams enter this season with high expectations after a summer of hard training and key additions to the team! Both boys and girls teams are expecting to take their respective programs to new heights this year and Saturday traveled to Ridgeview for the Bob Hays Invitational. They competed in hot and muggy conditions against over 24 teams from across the state including 4 teams ranked in the preseason 10, taking those first steps in the quest to accomplish their team goals.

The boys team, led by our new Head Coach Kerry Mowlam, started the season strong showing this years hard work is already paying off. The Varsity Boys team took a 4th place team finish and was led by our senior newcomer Dustyn Johnston in a strong and impressive 13th  place out of 200 Varsity runners. He was quickly followed by seniors Crisman Jones, Victor Soler-Sala, JP Mauriello and Connor Schramm. Overall, this was the best race ever run with a composite average time under 18:00 minutes for the first time in school history! Way to go Sharks!

The Girls Varsity team, led by Head Coach Amy Schottel, had a strong 5th team finish. They were led by  senior Bella Poole, who holds virtually all of the PV track and distance school records and showed she is ready for the season with a 12th place finish against almost 200 runners. She was followed closely behind in 14th place by senior Ashley Carpenter, who ran her first XC race and was with Bella most of the way. Sophomore Abby Reimer and seniors Courtney Henderson and Casey  Boland followed to complete the girls score.  Overall, it was the best race and highest finish in a meet this size for the Lady Sharks and they are ready to improve to a higher level the rest of the season.
Showing off the depth of both our programs, with over 60 runners on the two teams, our girls JV team took home a 2nd place trophy and the boys took 3rd place.

In the girls JV race, the sharks were led by junior Sara Lindell  who finished in 9th place and junior Grace Kellaher in 15th, Rachael Babcock in 17th and then two freshman Madison Santore and Fallon Farrell rounded our top 5 finishers, all received awards for their efforts to finish in the top 25.

In boys JV race, the Sharks impressive team depth was evident with our top 7 runners all finishing in the top 25 and were led by sophomore Andrew Kessler's 6th place overall performance and personal best.  Junior Johnathan Fennell was next for the Sharks and followed closely a pack of Sharks including senior Evan Weiner, Junior Brett Green and a trio of young Sharks, freshmen Perry Bechtle, Mark Davey and Justin Knight, all running their first race and doing so impressively.

Next week the Sharks travel to Bishop Kenny with over 50 teams from across the state and Georgia  for the Katie Caples Invitational! Come on out and support your team! info below!

Football--Junior Varsity:
The JV offense powered through the Nease Panther defense for 35 points, led by freshmen Hal Swan and Nick Tronti.  The first defense only allowed one score in the half.  They were relentless in their pursuit of their first win.  Tyler Hatcher had an interception and Marshall Few along with the rest of the defense was determined to shut them down.  The boys played with class and character.  Continuing the tradition of beating Nease in football, last night made it five in a row for junior varsity.
