Tis always a great pleasure to welcome the servants and co-operators of the spirit, especially those in distant lands who are doing their utmost to spread these important truths, to demonstrate that the divine power did not cease to flow hundreds of years ago and that the Great Spirit is as accessible to all His children as he always was and always will be.

 

You are richly blessed to have been brought out of the gloom into the light of understanding and to have placed your feet upon the spiritual pathway, to seek to unfold your own latent gifts of the spirit and to help others as you were helped when it was necessary for the way to be shown to you.

 

As you know, the whole purpose of our mission - I mean all those who cooperate in this tremendous task on both sides of the veil - is to reach as many as we can, so that they too may become aware of the tremendous possibilities that life has to offer them in your world and in ours.

 

I would like you to know that every act of service you perform brings an added blessing to the work you are doing and helps you to establish even a closer contact and strengthen the links that bind you to those who love you in our world and who always seek to use you in the service of the suffering and those who have lost their way.

 

So it is a great pleasure to have you here and to make you understand that you are not working in isolation, but in co-operation with a vast army of enlightened spiritual beings whose purpose is to ensure that eternal truths and spirit power shall spread wherever they can.

 

You are the repositories of the greatest power in the universe. It is the power of the spirit. There is nothing or nobody that can negate that power that can overthrow it, that can prevent it from fulfilling itself.

 

Do not attempt to overlook the tremendous significance of the work in which we are all engaged. We have to undo the centuries of superstition that have placed the minds of millions in thraldom and subjection. This has made it almost impossible for them to understand simply the great truths which would free them, so that they could live, as they should, in an exhilaration of body, mind and spirit, and enjoy the richness that should be theirs once they understand who they are, what they are and where they are going.

 

We have had to encounter vast difficulties to reach your world. We have overcome them in many places. Now the light of the spirit shines throughout your world. There is not even one country from which it is absent. It may be that those who are the instruments of the spirit have to work in secret and behind closed doors, but the work will go on because none can gainsay it.

 

Welcome your difficulties as a challenge to reveal the true mettle of the spirit, your divine armoury.

You have potentially the greatest power in the world within you. There is no handicap, no obstacle, no difficulty so strong that you do not possess the inner power and can call on a higher power to overcome them. Difficulties are there to be conquered. In the conquering, you become more aware of the tremendous divinity that lies within you.

 

Gird up your loins. You are engaged in the great battle against greed, selfishness, cupidity, stupidity and all the horrible results of the materialism that causes trouble, disaster, war, strife and hatred in your world. You have a great work to do. Do it in the realisation that the power behind you is mightier than all the forces that the world of matter can muster. You have nothing to fear at all.

 

Don explained that the couple's sanctuary was founded on Silver Birch's teachings, and that all associated with it wanted to have their love conveyed to him. The guide continued: I am very grateful for love, for love is all that I have to offer. But these are not my teachings. I am only the mouthpiece.

These are the eternal truths of the spirit, unchanging because they are eternal. We are all privileged to have the opportunity to be the ambassadors of the Great Spirit. It is a great responsibility for us that we do nothing that in any way diminishes the trust reposed in us by those who are charged with the task of ensuring that freedom in all its aspects should come to those who dwell in your world. Then we will receive, not as we do now so many misfits, ill-equipped, un ready, uneducated into our world, but those who will come here prepared because they have knowledge to take up the thread of life which death brings to all.

 

In answer to another question posed by Don, Silver Birch replied:

No prayer, no earnest, honest desire to strive towards greater efforts to extend the boundaries of knowledge, to heal more who are sick, and comfort more who mourn, to add a greater ray to your lighthouse that enables weary ones to find a path to you, all part of the task on which we are engaged, fails to get a response.

 

You are part of a vast army. Behind and beyond us there is a tremendous range of liberated beings of much higher development spiritually than you perhaps can appreciate. You and I, and others who work close to us, have access to this vast richness. The only limiting factor is our capacity to receive and to assimilate. As we unfold, so more of this divine beauty, radiance, grandeur, nobility and lustre can be ours. This is the incentive for all of us to exhibit more and more of the innate divinity which is the heritage of birth in your world.

 

Hold your heads high. You can achieve far more than all the churches, synagogues, temples and chapels.

You can exhibit the power of the spirit, which they cannot. They prefer the arid theology which has choked the spirit and prevented it from flowing into their midst.

 

Don said he had a very important question to ask. "You always teach that 'When the spirit is right, the body and the mind must be right.' Yet we find very well developed mediums who still become ill and have to seek medical and other aids. "Do you mean that when the spirit is right the human being can ignore laws pertaining to the body and the mind, such as good food, correcting bad habits of eating and mental discipline?"

 

Let us start at the beginning. Every human being is composed of body, mind and spirit. This is the real holy trinity, the three in one, the one in three. Obviously, it is the intention that there should be harmony between these threefold aspects of being.

 

Health means wholeness and wholeness is harmony. If there is a defect in the body, it automatically disturbs what should be the unity of the threefold individual. Spirit is the animating power of life. Spirit is life, life is spirit. Spirit is supreme. Spirit is master and matter is servant. Spirit is king and matter is subject. But spirit in your world is limited in its expression to the mind and the body through which it has to function. There you have a series of problems that are constantly at work because they affect one another.

 

You cannot place the spirit in an isolated, watertight compartment, having no relationship to the mind or the body. Similarly, you cannot do this with the mind and the body. I always say if the spirit is right, then the mind will be right and the body will be right. Similarly, if the body and the

mind are functioning at maximum efficiency the spirit will have its fullest expression.

 

Unfortunately, this is very rare in your world. So you get disease, illness and suffering because there is lack of harmony between these threefold aspects. It was never the intention that healing from our world should be the only method of helping people to become well.

 

What is important about spirit healing is that it is directed to the source, the origin, the inner perfection, the life force which is capable of overcoming the obstacles that prevent harmony in the individual.

We do not despise other means of healing or therapies provided they do not in turn produce undesirable results in the body. We do not welcome the use of poisons being injected into the body because this is contrary to the way in which the body, mind and spirit relationship work.

 

After Don commented, "Many of the foods we eat are poisoned," Silver Birch told him:

Yes, that is true. But if the spirit is right and the mind is right, then you will throw out these imperfections. I do not mean that you should take a bottle containing the deadliest of poisons known to you, drink it and if the spirit and mind are right you will be all right.

 

It cannot work that way. If you are going to poison the body, the spirit cannot function and neither can the mind. This is only common sense. You will not achieve perfection on earth. Perfection is an infinite process. You have to go on developing, throwing out imperfections as you proceed on your eternal way.

But if your thinking is right, your mode of life is right. Then you do not break the laws. There is nothing that can be done until you put right what you did wrong.

 

What we have to do is to instil into the minds of people in your world that right living is the important factor. It is no use believing they can do anything that is wrong, and then go to a doctor or healer who will put it right and that is the end of the matter. It cannot work that way. You are responsible beings. You must try to live aright, but if you break the laws you must pay the price.

 

After Mary Davis commented, "We make many mistakes," the guide told her:

You are children who have to learn your lessons. You have the whole of eternity. What is the hurry?

The Great Spirit has been in charge of the universe for a very long time and knows exactly what is best. Do not worry. Do the best you can; that is all we ask of you. You will make mistakes; learn from them. You will fall; then pick yourself up. You will lose some of your battles, but you will win far more than you lose.

 

You cannot change the world at once. Neither can you change people. You can change only yourselves.

You are responsible for what you do and for nobody else. So do the best you can. Help wherever you can. Serve wherever you can. Offer what you have received.

 

If others will share it, rejoice. If not, let them go their way. Those you are to help will be brought to you.
