 Greetings
Welcome to my newsletter!

Summer.... how we all look forward to it. Things are more relaxed and the livin' is easy! July and August ...The summer begins, the art continues, and new ventures develop.

In July, I will be spending time on Long Beach Island and on a great trip to England with my grandson who is also an avid Downton Abbey fan. We got tickets for the castle and studio!!

But I will be at the receptions at Da Vinci Art Alliance and invite you to join me at this gem of an artists' group gallery on July 8, 6- 9 PM!

This summer is filled with exciting art events. I appreciate the opportunity to share them with you, either online, or, better yet, in person.

Artfully yours,
Linda

StorySlams from First Person Arts

What's a StorySlam? It's more than a story telling competition. It's an invitation to share five minutes of your life in a room full of people who appreciate a well-told tale. Each night features a new theme, so the stories are always fresh and entertaining. Got five minutes? Come and lend an ear, or share an experience.

StorySlams take place on the second Monday of each month at World Cafe Live (3025 Walnut Street) and the fourth Tuesday of each month at L'Etage (6th & Bainbridge Streets).* Doors open at 7:30PM, and Slams begin at 8:30PM. StorySlams at World Cafe Live are all-ages events; Slams at L'Etage are 21+.

*Except for May and November when Grand Slams are held.

First Person Arts StorySlams are presented by Harmelin Media.

Check out FirstPersonArts.org for details about the themes this month!

Discovering the Impressionists at Philadelphia Museum of Art

Discovering the Impressionists: Paul Durand-Ruel and the New Painting

Philadelphia Museum of Art
Philadelphia, PA

June 24, 2015 - September 13, 2015

Uncover the untold story of Monet, Renoir, Manet, Degas, Pissarro, and their visionary art dealer and champion, Paul Durand-Ruel.

Despite its popularity today, Impressionism was not immediately embraced by collectors, dealers, or the public. An important figure in the rise of the Impressionists is Paul Durand-Ruel, a visionary Parisian art dealer who enthusiastically championed their radical new style of painting. This exhibition examines the critical years from 1865 to 1905 when Durand-Ruel both inspired and sustained artists like Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Édouard Manet, Camille Pissarro, and Edgar Degas. World-famous masterpieces by these artists and others will be shown with historical photographs and documents to explore this vital period.

This exhibition traces the development of Impressionism-its struggles, successes, and eventual recognition-and reveals Durand-Ruel's role in the movement. The extraordinary quality of the Impressionist paintings that were once part of his gallery's stock is a testament to the dealer's deep personal relationships with the now-celebrated artists, his unwavering belief in contemporary painting, and his substantial business acumen.

Behind the Scene/Seen: An Artistic Response to the Holocaust

Behind the Scene/Seen: An Artistic Response to the Holocaust was published in August 2009. I have created a DVD for presentations and a shortened version for YouTube which I uploaded in November 2009.

My goal is to have at least 1000 people see the video. So far over 800 people have seen it and the feedback has been very positive.

MORE THAN 3/4 TO MY GOAL OF 1000 VIEWERS!! Please click on the link below to watch it and also recommend it to your friends to watch it as well.

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08x8VI4Q1nk
I need your help to reach a 1000 viewers!!

Here are some comments from viewers:

I find it so hard to take in information about the holocaust - whether through photos, films, books, discussions - but your images and writings are so beautiful that I can't help to think about something that is usually too painful for me to experience.

Linda, a beautiful book this will be: Your montages brings the pain and horror into our souls. The message of NEVER AGAIN is there, quietly but deeply. When can I buy your book?

PIVOTAL at James Oliver Gallery

James Oliver Gallery

723 Chestnut Street

Philadelphia, PA 19106

presents: PIVOTAL

June 27- August 1, 2015

Opening Reception Saturday, June 27,  6-10 PM. Refreshments will be served.

Pivotal features the works of photographers, NADINE ROVNER, MARK HAVENS, and MARTIN BUDAY, showcasing their unique visions of American life. These moments capture their subjects combining carefully dictated details with the natural essence of their environments. Pivotal takes the viewer through these moments asking what's next or what came before. The artists each capture an image frozen in time but fleeting, like a momentary view as you drive by, begging the viewer to take a closer look.
