Bravery Comes in Many Forms

Tom McNeal's Far Far Away is  deceptive. It initially appears to be a sweet little story about a boy and his companion ghost, who can only be heard, never seen. As the tale of this lonely boy, his young friend, and the ghost continue readers realize that there is ever so much more to the story. Like a Grimm Fairy Tale, elements of the story become in turn tender and magical, then macabre and  frightful. It is impossible to describe the plot without giving away a story that readers will devour as greedily as the elaborate cakes named Prinsesstrta.
 "Deliciously creepy."

Tanya Lee Stone offers another stunning work of highly readable nonfiction,
Courage Has No Color: The True Story of the Triple Nickles. Stone's ability to make informative reading engaging is evident in this history of the black paratroopers, the 555th Platoon. The personal stories  are fascinating and are enhanced with ample illustrations, making the story readily accessible for young teens.Think nonfiction is dull and dry? This book may change your mind.
