Returning former Wranglerette, Rangerette now hired as assistant to Director
Alyssa Falcone joins FHS faculty

by Maegan Massicott
Friendswood High School alumna, Alyssa Falcone returns to the district this new school year as assistant director of the Wranglerettes. Falcone started dance at the age of 2, and grew up in the competitive dance world with the goal of becoming a Friendswood Wranglerette.
After meeting her goal she served as the Junior Deputy Officer (07'-08') and Sheriff Officer her senior year (08'-09').
After high school she carried on her dance legacy by becoming a member of the 70th line of the Kilgore College Rangerettes, as well as a member of the elite dance group, the Swingsters. When her time at Kilgore came to an end she transferred to Texas State University where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance.
Falcone plans to keep the traditions of the Friendswood Wranglerettes alive, as well as evolve and grow with the dance world.
As a young educator, she wants to positively influence her dance students' lives beyond teaching new routines and moves, but using her young advantage to inspire them to chase their dreams at any age.
Falcone considers herself a Mustang forever.
"I feel at home when I am here, and coming back as an employee of my Alma Mater means the world to me," she said.
The Wranglerette program provided more than just great success in Falcone's dance career, but life lessons and values instilled in her while under the direction of former director Kara Baker.
Overall, Falcone believes the Wranglerette organization has served as a vital stepping-stone in her career as both a performer and educator. The "sisterhood bond" formed by the invested time together, as a team is what she ultimately took from the program.
Ashley Marmaro, the current director of the program, has kept the legacy of the Wranglerettes alive, along with adding her own personal touches. Falcone feels honored to work by her side, and feels confident that the program will forever remain the pride and joy of Friendswood High School.

Jennifer Massar's 3rd grade class at Cline Elementary studied the value of friendship and how to be an "owl-some Cline Pony." The class read Enemy Pie by Derek Munson, a story about a boy who seeks his father's advice when struggling with an enemy. The father's secret pie recipe is the fastest known way to get rid of enemies, and the ingredients surprise the little boy by fostering a friendship with his enemy. Massar's class made their own Enemy Pies during class, and unveiled the secret recipe to friendship. This is Massar's first year in FISD.
