Boys Golf wins District, individually take top 4 spots

 

The FHS boy's golf team made a Grand Exit from District 24-4A, according to Coach John Text. Individually, Friendswood took the top four spots. Of the 13 Friendswood players, 9 placed in the top 15.

            Robert Todd was named first place individual and is a district champion.

Bryce Dooleyis second place individual and district runner-up.

Daniel Bradley and Aron Hetsko ended in atie for third place individual (won in a playoff.

            Team 1 is the first place district team and regional qualifier. Members include Robert Todd, Bryce Dooley, Aron Hetsko, Daniel Bradley, and Harrison Slone.

Team 2 is the second place district team and regional qualifier. Members include Sterling Killian, Nick Oldham, Adam Michalek, Jacob Gill and Sam Kinloch.

            Medalists include Zach O'Brien, Zach Wrinkle, and Cole Mendenhall.

 

Girls Golf wins District

           

            First place was won with a two-day team score of 738.

            According to Coach Matt Blackwell, the team was 81 strokes ahead of second place.

            Emma Brackett won the overall tournament shooting an 82, 78 and Alex Magid finished third overall with an 86.88.

            Shelby Michael advanced to the regional tournament as a medalist by shooting a 94, 109.

            "These girls played hard over the last two days and they appreciate everyone's support," Blackwell said.

            Team members include Emma Brackett, Alex Magid, Abbey Hayford, Abby Hedrick, Victoria Hartman, and Shelby Michael.

 

Choir has great UIL Concert, Sightreading  results

            Congratulations to the Friendswood HS Choirs for outstanding results at yesterday's UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. Five choirs performed, earning four Sweepstakes trophies (outstanding ratings in both concert and sightreading) and one Outstanding Sightreading award.

            Earning Sweepstakes trophies were: Treble Choir, Janwin Overstreet-Goode, director; Varsity Women's Choir, Mike Tyer, director; Ensembelles, Janwin Overstreet-Goode, director; and Concert Men's Choir, Mike Tyer, director.     

           The Campus Singers earned straight 1's (outstanding) from all three judges in the Sightreading portion of the competition.

               Congratulations to all choirs for their outstanding performances.
