  JANUARY 2013

Bethlehem Star picture The Wondrous Gift

How silently, how silently
The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive him still,
The dear Christ enters in.

The Jews of Jesus' day were not expecting their Messiah to come as a baby.  Many of them were expecting the King of kings to ride in with an army to defeat their enemies.  But God is in the business of doing things in ways we never imagined.  Sometimes He gives us gifts in ways that we don't expect.  And sometimes His leading is hard to understand.

Many times it seems that walking by faith is kind of like walking through a dark hallway with a dim candle.  Wouldn't it be great if the Lord showed us exactly what to do by sending us an email or text message?   This is probably not going to happen, however the more that we get to know God, the easier it is to understand His leading and to walk by faith.  Have you ever thought why you can easily move around in your bedroom in the dark?  This is because you know where everything is in your bedroom.

As we roll into 2013, let's strive to know God more so it is easier to understand His leading and to walk by faith.  Even though things around us may seem scary or uncertain, God is still God - and He is in charge!  Take time to listen to His still, small voice and with humility allow the dear Christ to guide your steps throughout 2013.
