CDBF 2013
13th Annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival
Sat.-Sun. July 27-28, Sloan's Lake Park Denver
Welcome!
Dear CDBF Community,
Is it really the end of April? It's hard to tell that spring is here, since we've squeezed a winter's worth of weather into the past month.

But spring has indeed sprung, and CDBF's  Mile-Hi Dragonboat Racing Club has been practicing on the weekends. That means the 13th annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is just around the corner.

Our Operations Committee (you can meet our newest members below) have been busy planning this year's festival, and celebrating our theme for the year, "Commit To Get Fit!" We'll have the best boat races yet, including some fun competitions like you've never seen before.

We're also featuring the wonderful culture of Thailand in Gateway To Asia, with performances, demonstrations and exhibits.

And as always we have the most complete Asian Community Events listings here and updated on our website.

Thanks for your support for CDBF,
Erin Yoshimura
Executive Director

Holy cow -- only 88 days left until the festival!
Fit Happens!
This year's theme is health, fitness and wellness

Team Warmup If you've participated in the dragon boat races at CDBF, you know what a wonderful workout it is, in addition to an exhilarating,  team-building fun sport.

Many of the teams take the races seriously, and prepare for each heat with exercises and stretches, as shown here.

We're focusing on the fitness aspect of the dragon boat races this year with the addition of a fleet of six boats we've purchased to accommodate more races, and more boats racing together. The competition will be the fiercest yet!

We're also spotlighting the Bellco Zodiac Dash fun run, and encouraging runners (and walkers) to don costumes representing any of the animals on the Chinese zodiac. Watch the CDBF website for more information on the Bellco Zodiac Dash!

As in past years, we'll also feature our Wellness Village and Find Zen Stage, where you'll find vendors and organizations providing health screenings and sharing information about health and wellness, as well as experts giving demonstrations on the stage of Asian health traditions such as tai chi and meditation.

Even our Taste of Asia food vendors will get on the wellness wagon, and many will feature healthy dining options during the festival!

So come to the 13th annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival and say "hello" to health!
The races won't all be serious this year
You can expect to see some crazy "fun" competition

2012 race boat This year we're revamping our dragon boat races, and giving teams the opportunity to have some fun.

We'll have some fun races scheduled that will leave both teams and spectators laughing, while still offering some intense competition. We'll have more details in the weeks to come, so check the website.
Thai one on!
Welcome the Thai community in Gateway To Asia

Thai Dance - June Each year in Gateway to Asia we've shined the spotlight on specific Asian countries and communities, by showcasing those communities'  performances and intimate cultural demonstrations.

This year, we're featuring the traditions of Thailand, with help from the Royal Thai Consulate in Los Angeles, Wat Buddhawararam (Denver Thai Buddhist Temple) and the Denver Thai Lions Club. Denver's Thai Harmony (shown here) will take you on a tour of Thailand's different cultures on the Gateway stage, and there will be an exhibit dedicated to everything Thai!
