| Welcome! |
Dear CDBF Community-
It's Thanksgiving week, and I want to express my thanks to everyone who has helped to make the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival such a great success over its 12 (!) years.
First, we couldn't pull off this annual celebration for over 100,000 people without our incredible and dedicated Operations Committee, most of whom are volunteers, managing areas from the Races to the Volunteers. These folks work 10 months out of the year planning an even better festival year after year. I also want to thank our Board of Directors for their guidance and support throughout the year.
And, the festival would not be possible without our amazing performers, vendors, sponsors, volunteers and of course, our festival guests...thank you! This is truly, truly a collaborative effort.
And, here's where I ask you to continue your collaboration.
We need your help in order to keep this festival free to attend and maintain the quality that you've grown accustomed to.
Tuesday, December 4th, is Colorado Gives Day and we would be extra-thankful if you would show your support for the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival. It's a safe and secure way to donate whatever you're able (no donation is considered too small), and we'll receive 100% of the funds, thanks to GivingFirst.org. If the timing isn't right for you, you can donate year-round through GivingFirst.org... thank you for your consideration!
While we prepare for Thanksgiving and the holiday season to come, we'd also like to look back and wish our many friends in the Indian community Happy Diwali! The Festival of Lights was held earlier in November.
A quick shoutout to the Colorado Flying Dragons who took their talent to Las Vegas for the Rose Regatta Dragon Boat Festival and brought home the Gold Medal! Congrats -- we're so proud!
By the way, the 13th Annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival will be held July 27 and 28, 2013 -- that means it's just 247 days away!
Wishing you a safe and joyous holiday,
Erin Yoshimura
Executive Director

| Support us on Colorado Gives Day! |
Show CDBF your support on December 4, from 12 am to midnight, for the third annual Colorado Gives Day. The 24-hour event is presented by Giving First, part of the Community First Foundation.
Thanks to the foundation and its many corporate supporters, all money donated to non-profits like the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival through Giving First goes to the non-profit. That's 100% of all donations, with no administrative or credit cards fees taken out. And on Colorado Gives Day, the First bank Incentive Fund will increase the value of every dollar donated for the 24-hour period!
The payment process is easy, quick, secure and you don't need to join anything or create any kind of account. You can even go online now and pre-schedule your donation to process on Dec. 4. Colorado Gives Day makes it a snap for you to show your support for the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival!

| Congrats to the Colorado Flying Dragons race team! | |
The Colorado Flying Dragons, one of the teams that competes at the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, traveled to Las Vegas for the second time to paddle in the Rose Regatta Dragon Boat Festival.
The team righteously represented Colorado, coming in first place in all three of its races and bringing home the Gold Medal and trophy!

| Diwali greetings to the Indian community |
Happy belated Diwali greetings to our friends in the Indian community! Diwali 2012, the five-day Festival of Lights, began on Nov. 13.
Wikipedia notes, "Diwali (also spelled Devali in certain regions) or Deepavali, popularly known as the "festival of lights," is primarily a five day Hindu festival[1] which starts on Dhanteras, celebrated on thirteenth lunar day of Krishna paksha (dark fortnight) of the Hindu calendar month Ashwin." The holiday is also celebrated by other Indian religions including Jains and Arya Samajists."
