APDC needs food donations for refugee communities
The APDC is collecting food items donations for refugee clients (especially at their behavioral health clinic) who have been struggling to get by. These clients include people from the Bhutanese and Burmese communities. They have been running out of food for their families and are in HUGE need of food donations. Any items such as rice, oil, ramen noodles, soy sauce, canned fish, canned fruit or vegetables will be extremely helpful for the families. Donations can be dropped off at either APDC office, or, for questions or inquiries, please call either office:

CAHEP Health Fair Series
In partnership with Walgreens and local Asian Pacific Islander and immigrant communities, the Colorado Alliance for Health Equity and Practice (CAHEP) has been hosting a series of health fairs throughout October. These events provide free flu shots, as well as various blood, cancer, and other disease screenings for qualified individuals who are uninsured or unable to afford these tests. Japanese American Relations: A Personal Odyssey

The CU Center for Asian Studies and JASC present a talk by Mariko Terasaki Miller, the first woman ever appointed to the post of Honorary Consul General of Japan and the recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun, the second-highest award conferred by the Japanese government. "In an exclusive presentation for the CU and Boulder community, Ms. Miller will share her unique perspectives on US-Japan relations during and since World War II. Ms. Miller will speak of her childhood experiences in China during the Sino-Japanese war and the role her father played in diplomatic negotiations between Japan and the United States. She will also touch on her uncle's experience as the first doctor to witness the devastation in Hiroshima after the atomic bombing. She will conclude by discussing the lessons she has learned and their applicability in today's global environment. The event is free and open to the public. Reception immediately following.
