General Assembly promotional Sundays set for
July 31 and Oct. 30, Jan. 29 and April 30

You have an opportunity this year to incorporate calls to attend the 2017 General Assembly with your worship and newsletters. In addition to the short video you can download from the promotion page and show before or during worship (or add to your website!) there are additional materials this year.

Just posted on the new General Assembly website is a document (in Word and PDF) that contains text for newsletters/bulletins and suggested hymns for the fifth Sundays between now and the opening of the event.
In addition there are communion and offering meditations and liturgies based on the Common Lectionary for the date.
And the first two weeks of this month (and offered again in October and continuously from January to June) you can order polo shirts with the General Assembly logo to wear as promotion and also bring along to the event. Ten percent of all sales benefit Disciples Mission Fund. You can also order customization for a small fee and your purchase will still benefit DMF.

New Global Ministries book on mutuality in mission

Global Ministries is excited to announce the release of a new book for individuals and congregations titled Restoring Dignity, Nourishing Hope: Developing Mutuality in Mission. This work is the result of requests from mission committees for a resource that would enable congregations to engage more deeply in God's mission in a way that reflected our unique theology and commitments as members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ.

Restoring Dignity, Nourishing Hope: Developing Mutuality in Mission was written to assist and guide churches in conversation around partnership, advocacy, short-term mission trips, community development, evangelism and interfaith dialogue, and fundraising. Each of the 10 chapters contains questions for study and reflection as well as suggested resources for further engagement. Most of the contributors are Global Ministries' partners or mission personnel who have had the privilege of living and serving cross-culturally.
