Social Witness task force has first meeting
by William Bauzo, Jeff Goodier and Dean Phelps
From February 5-7, 2016, 21 members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) met as the Social Witness Task Force in Indianapolis. This group was formed in response to GA-1524 which called for "the Office of General Minister and President, Disciples Home Missions, Division of Overseas Ministries, to convene a balanced broad-based and inclusive task force... for the purpose of bringing to the 2017 General Assembly... a jointly sponsored process for discussion of and education about important religious, ethical and social issues."
At the gathering, committee members shared how they understood the role Sense of the Assembly resolutions play in different expressions of ministry, and the impact they have in congregations. Sense of the Assembly resolutions can play a powerful role in supporting the work of international partners in vital ministries and provide congregations with opportunities to discuss and engage in pressing social issues. Various ministries of the church use these resolutions to facilitate and guide their work. Read full article ________

Pension Fund goes green with annual report by Pension Fund staff We're going green! Pension Fund is excited to announce that annual reports will now be available only via the website. Pension Fund gradually moved toward this solution as technology changed how our members consume information, with a majority of all annual reports emailed in 2015. With this change, we're implementing what's become standard practice among church-related and financial institutions.
If you wish to receive a direct link to future annual reports, be sure to update your email address with Pension Fund. Here's what else you need to know:
- By going digital, Pension Fund will be saving in printing and mailing costs
- Through eliminating paper copies of the annual report, Pension Fund is reducing paper waste and becoming more environmentally friendly
- Annual reports will be available on Pension Fund's website in an easy-to-read, online flipbook format
- If a paper version is still preferred, members can download and/or print the annual report directly from Pension Fund's website
Any questions? Feel free to contact us at pfcc1@pensionfund.org or 866.495.7322. And, don't forget to look for our newest annual report online in late spring! ________

What's Next for the Disciples Care Exchange
by Rev. Monica Wedlock Kilpatrick, Director of Disciples Care Exchange and Affinity Group Ministries, NBA
As we reflect on the past year, we are thankful for the connections we have made with the nearly 40 ministries participating in the Disciples Care Exchange. We deeply value the longstanding work they do as the health and social service arm of our Disciples church. This year has been an opportunity to visit with many of our partners, listen to their joys and challenges, share their work with churches, regions, and the general church, and envision a way forward to further support them through the Disciples Care Exchange. To that end, our National Benevolent Association and Disciples Home Missions (DHM) staff partners have outlined a number of new opportunities we would like to explore to further enhance, encourage, and illuminate the partners of the Disciples Care Exchange. Our goals for 2016 are: connecting, resourcing, and amplifying voices across the church. Read more
