Understanding the Middle East
by Tom Morse, Global Ministries
Recent events in the news have brought the conversation about the Middle East to the front of mind for many in your congregation. You can be better prepared for the inevitable conversations by learning directly from a leading Old Testament scholar.

Join Rev. Dr. Walter Brueggemann Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 1 pm ET for a Global Ministries webinar on his new book Chosen?: Reading the Bible Amid the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. Brueggemann will unpack several critical questions that are essential to understanding the current situation - Are modern Israeli citizens the descendants of the Israelites? Was the promise of the land to Moses permanent and irrevocable? How should we read the Bible in light of the modern situation? His reflections on these questions and more will be followed by a response to criticisms he has received of the book as well as a Q&A session.

This free webinar is open to all as part of Global Ministries' ongoing Middle East Initiative. Register now

Christmas Offering benefits regions
from your regional ministers
The Word from the church is to Believe in a Deeper Hope that moves beyond the "wrappings" of Christmas around us. We proclaim a Hope that brings Good News, Joy and Compassion for all of God's people. THIS DEEPER HOPE IS MADE REAL IN ALL OF OUR REGIONS AS WE:
  • Assist congregations and leaders in claiming their unique mission and ministry, and provide resources and support.
  • Call, commission and ordain new pastors, and support and equip all pastors for their ministries.
  • Revitalize existing congregations and plan for new congregations.
  • Connect Regional Disciples to give witness to ministries of justice, hope and compassion.
  • Provide camps, conferences and retreats where children and youth find hope and Christ's love and a community of faith that embraces "everyone."
  • Make visible the care for all of God's family through ministries of reconciliation and anti-racism.
  • Call and equip passionate leaders for today's church.
  • Provide pastoral care for clergy and congregations.
