The
Center for Faith and Giving invites you to
Stepping Into Stewardship, a world-class stewardship education event to be held in Orlando, March 30 through April 1. Featuring J. Clif Christopher (author of Rich Church/Poor Church and Not Your Parents Offering Plate), William Enright (Director of the Lilly Lake Institute on Faith and Giving), and CFG Director Bruce Barkhauer, Disciples will also recognize many of the workshop leaders that include Todd Adams, Bill Lee, Katie Hays, Marilyn Fiddmont, Eugene Fischer, Sandhya Jha, Belinda King and Maribeth Westerfield.
The event is jointly sponsored by the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ and the heads of both communions (Sharon Watkins and John Dorhauer) will also share thoughts about stewardship and generosity with those gathered at the Orlando Double Tree, just outside the gates of Sea World.
"We know that participants will come away with energy, hope, and practical tools for increasing generosity in their congregations," said Bruce Barkhauer, Disciples' Minister for Faith and Giving. "While Disciples are contributing some great leadership to the 16 workshops the event will feature, so are the UCC's," Barkhauer said. "We both want to bring the best we have, together in the same place, as a way of launching our new partnership. It just makes sense that we should work with each other as we face similar challenges and have powerful resources to share. It is a win - win," Barkhauer said.
Scholarships will be available to cover the majority of costs for up to 15 individuals who are selected by their Regions to attend and there will be no registration costs for those currently enrolled in a Disciple's related seminary.
