MONDAY

You will want to make sure you are in attendance at the first business session on Monday afternoon of General Assembly. General Minister and President Sharon Watkins will present a two-year pilot program known as Mission First! The General Board has approved this project for the next biennium, suspending its 2016 meeting to make room for the process.

Even if you are not going to be present at the assembly, you will want to sign up to participate in one of the mission gatherings that form the foundation for the effort. More info will be available after the Monday afternoon introduction.

RECAPS
Disciples Church Extension Fund/Hope Partnership for Missional Transformation
Zedric Clayton, pastor of Real Faith Christian Church in Clarksdale, MS, touched the more than 400 people at the Disciples Church Extension Fund and Hope Partnership dinner on Saturday night with his story of how his courageous congregation found their way out of disaster to serve their community with the help of Disciples from across the country.  Many of those volunteers, donors and other partners were in audience.  DCEF President Rick Reisinger and Hope Partnership President Gilberto Collazo also shared how their ministries are collaborating in new ways with Disciples and ecumenical partners to help equip and empower congregations and their leaders to do ministry and mission more effectively in their communities.

Youth-led worship
Jessica Phillips "models" a sleeping mat.
There was a healthy mix of generations at the youth-led worship at the Hyatt Sunday morning. In fact, it was standing room only with children sitting on the floor and adults standing around the outside walls. Prayers and concerns were lifted up and songs were led by a band of young musicians. And there was a blessing of "plarn" - the recycled plastic bags that will be crocheted into sleeping mats with the help of Disciples Women.
