Refugee and Immigration Ministries active in support of Texas migrants

Do not neglect to offer hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels unawares. - Hebrews 13:2

detention center In the South Texas Family Residential Center located in Dilley, migrant women and children fleeing violence in Central America await their court dates through anxious long days. Refugee and Immigration Ministries (RIM) and Disciples Women have joined with ecumenical partners to provide bibles and story books and other spiritual supports to the Dilley residents.

Today (April 22) there is a prayer vigil at 2 pm CDT on their behalf. Disciple pastor Lori Tapia and RIM Director Sharon Stanley-Rea are attending and you are invited to pray from wherever you are for the nearly 700 women and children detained in the facility.

RIM is also working with Church World Service (CWS) on the Angel-to-Angel project that provides notes of care to these migrants. Children can be involved as well. A simple card or piece of art can be mailed as a message of care. No additional items may be sent along with the cards as only the card is permitted. More details including address.

If you are interested in further work, you can access "Ways to End Family Detention."
