Disciple Women's Executive Committee meets for planning

In September the Disciple Women's leadership team met to begin their four years of work together. They began with gaining understanding of the budget and background of their particular area of ministry and discussed new ways of meeting and having fellowship including interregionals and Quadrennial. In addition, the group began planning their presence at the 2015 General Assembly in Columbus which includes a peace crane project. Bethany Fellows write and edit Chalice Press' Partners in Prayer Advent devotional
Young clergy in the Bethany Fellows, a Disciples-focused ministry that helps new pastors make the challenging transition from seminaries to congregations, wrote this year's annual Partners in Prayer Advent 2014 devotional from Chalice Press.
In this year's devotional, 29 ministers representing 15 regions offered reflections on the Advent season, and a team of four fellows edited the offerings. Bethany Fellows also wrote the Fellowship of Prayer Lenten Devotional in 2013. Proceeds from both devotional sales support Bethany Fellows' ministry.
Partners in Prayer Advent 2014 is available in print for $3 and in digital versions for $2.40 at ChalicePress.com, with discounts for congregational orders available.
Since 1999 Bethany Fellows has served congregations of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) by helping newly ordained, young pastors transition from seminary to sustained congregational ministry with a strong and healthy pastoral identity. Research indicates nearly 40% of young ministers may leave congregational ministry in their first five years. Through mentoring, peer support, and retreats, 90% of Bethany Fellows remain in congregational ministry. Bethany Fellows continues to expand its ministry by:
- Initiating a second Bethany Fellows group, which serves Disciples and ecumenical pastors.
- Collaborating with the Pacific Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in a pilot project serving ordained and commissioned pastors.
- Collaborating with the National Campus Ministry Association in a pilot project serving campus ministers and college chaplains.
Bethany Fellows is a fully self-sufficient 501c3 non-profit organization, with accumulated investments held by the Christian Church Foundation. Learn more about the Bethany Fellows at www.bethanyfellows.org.
Chalice Press is an imprint of the Christian Board of Publication, publishing house of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for more than a century.
