Altarpiece Conservation, The Oscars and Jazz!
Thursday, March 7
from 5:30-7:30 pm
World-class art conservators Lance Mayer and Gay Myers, will be working on conserving this altarpiece in the European Gallery all week (you can talk to them every day at 2 pm if you have questions.) Join them, as well as curator Kurt Sundstrom on Thursday for a discussion about the conservation treatment process.
After the talk, stay to see some Oscar winning film shorts offered by Red River Theatres followed by music by Alli Beaudry.
Also, you can enjoy a special "First Thursday Night Bites" menu in our Cafe! Beer and wine available for purchase.

SAMURAI FUN!
Saturday, March 9 starting at 10 am First, join us for a special Family Saturday from 10 am-1 pm, featuring art making and a family tour of Lethal Beauty! Then stick around for a Samurai in Action demonstration at 2 pm. Gordon Fisher Sensei, senior instructor of laido at Doshi Kai dojo in Acton, MA with over 40 years of experience in martial arts, will demonstrate a selection of Samurai weapon exercises and wear armor after the early Samurai.

Abigail Anne Newbold: Crafting Settlement
Opening March 30
Beginning Monday, March 20, Abigail Newbold will be in the museum installing her customized homestead, complete with timber-frame dwelling structures and a covered wagon pulled by a bicycle. Newbold will use traditional woodworking and textile techniques and modify cast-off objects she finds at flea markets to create her most elaborate installation to date.

Write a Haiku or Two

Sunday, April 14 at 2 pm Use the museum collection or the special exhibition Lethal Beauty: Samurai Weapons and Armor as inspiration to write a poem or two in the style of Japanese haiku.

The Manchester Community Music School will present an Honors Student Recital at the Currier Museum of Art at 11:30 am. Enjoy our Saturday morning free and open hours from 10 am-noon. After the recital, follow us over to the Currier Art Center's Student Exhibition at 180 Pearl Street, located one block from the Museum.

VACATION ART CAMP FOR KIDS Forts, Teepees and Settlements In conjunction with the Abigail Anne Newbold: Crafting Settlement exhibition, students will be making art, crafts and live-in dwellings inspired by the idea of self-sufficient living and New England craft traditions.
April 22-26 ART INTENSIVES FOR TEENS Acrylic Painting for Teens Students will explore still-life and photograph-based imagery using the versatile medium of acrylic paint.
Wheel Throwing Intensive
Students will focus on the art of vessel making. Some of the forms we will make include cups, bowls, plates and lidded containers.
