Sunday Worship - 9:30 and 11 AM

July 3, 2016
Rev. Addae Kraba speaks on Roots Hold Me Close, Wings Set Me Free.  Unitarian Universalism is grounded in the claiming of community that embraces each other in our varied stages toward a grander vision of a just and compassionate world.  It's not an epitaph, but a challenge to church life that needs to be met.  It's an ever-growing and ever-changing living tradition.

July 10, 2016
Rev. Addae Kraba speaks on Living Our Values, Expanding Our Consciousness. There is often an underestimation of the power or sphere of our value, but Unitarian Universalist's first principle calls us to recognize the inherent dignity and worth in all.  If we recognize and acknowledge this in each encounter, we become an example to others.

Heart to Heart
Embracing  Unpredictability
In life, we are always setting goals for ourselves and working to make them happen, because setting goals gives us focus and ensures using time and energy efficiently and effectively. Goal setting also provides us with a sense of purpose and direction. We know where we are going and what we want to do. But quite often, due to forces outside our control, things don't always go as we plan. Whether it's the flat tire on the way to the wedding, or the unforeseen flu virus, we have to adjust to a postponement or create a complete new set of circumstances. Sometimes even positive turns of fortune, such as an unexpected influx of cash or falling in love require us to be flexible and to reconsider plans and priorities, in the blink of an eye. This is what happens when life throws you a curve ball. But when the unexpected happens, you always have your inner core strength which cannot be taken from you. The fact is that life is unpredictable. The trip that you thought was for business, and when the deal fell through, you got depressed actually landed you at the airport two days earlier than planned so you could meet the love of your life. Your car breaks down, and you are late for an appointment. And while it's true that you never arrive at that important meeting, you end up spending a few relaxing hours with people you would never have met otherwise. The ability to accept what is happening and let go of your original expectations is key when dealing with these unexpected turns of fate. At times, we all have a tendency to get stuck in our heads, clinging to an idea of how we think life should go, and we can have a hard time accepting anything that doesn't comply with that idea. In order to keep us awake to opportunity and to teach us equanimity, the universe throws us the occasional curve ball. Remember that curve balls are not only life's way of keeping us awake, which is a gift in and of itself; they are also often life's way of bringing us wonderful surprises. So next time a curve ball comes your way, take a deep breath, say thank you, and open your mind to a new opportunity.

From My Heart to Yours,
Rev. Addae

Response to Orlando Memorial at AUUF
"My husband and I were privileged to attend the lovely memorial service at AUUF last night.  It was such an affirmative experience for us and was a joy to be among a group of people who are willing to share their love and respect with ALL people.  It must have been quickly arranged to happen so soon after the awful circumstance in Orlando, but it was just perfect in tone and presentation.  As parents of a gay son, and parent-in-laws to his husband of two years, we have known well the difficulties so often faced by LGBT persons, men, women, young and old.  But last night's overreaching message was the true one:  Love and Unity will someday win!  Thank you for all you did in sending out that message to our city."   --Dartha Hargrove

Several who attended the memorial came by the AUUF booth at the Panhandle Pride picnic June 26 and expressed their intent to come to worship services at the Fellowship soon.  They were very impressed with the welcoming atmosphere and quality of the memorial service.
