Living the Questions
Discussion Group

Thursday, April 9 from 7 - 8 PM

(2nd & 4th Thursday every month )

Are Christian ideas still relevant in today's world? Living the Questions is a discussion group using curriculum and media for the "church alumni association:" anyone whose questions about traditional Christian beliefs and ways of interpreting scripture have made them unwelcome elsewhere. Skeptics are welcome!  The group meets in the large classroom at the Fellowship, with discussion facilitated by Lyle Raker.

Women's Covenant Group
Monday, April 6 From 6 PM - 7:30 PM
(Every 1st and 3rd Monday)

AUUF will begin a Woman's Covenant Group with the purpose of studying and discussing feminine spiritual and social topics. We will launch this group by studying an 11 session UU adult RE curriculum, Cakes for the Queen of Heaven -  a woman honoring curriculum by Rev. Shirley Ranck. It examines pre-Judeo Christian cultures that may have worshiped the female as divine. The concepts of equality and reverence for the female in a religious setting are eye-opening to many participants.

More than Goddess 101, this workshop series examines important elements of today's women's lives; personal, interpersonal and societal. It examines how our culture has been influenced by Judeo Christian values. The primary question raised is: How would your life have been different if, when growing up, the divine had been imaged as female? Participants are encouraged to share their own experiences and beliefs, creating trust and strong bonds of friendship.

Join us as we learn and grow together as UU goddesses!

Get Healthier, Help the Hungry
Our Fellowship has long been a supporter of our local food bank. HPFB works to alleviate hunger in the Texas Panhandle.

Two new apps available for iPhone and Android will benefit both you and HPFB. First, the Charity Miles app. Download it to your smartphone from the app store. Then select Feeding America from the choice of charities, and every mile you run, walk, or bike will earn two meals for the food bank.

Second is the foodTweeks app. Tell the app what you're making, and it offers you three "tweeks" to make your meal healthier. The calories saved are donated to HPFB as meals. Every 600 calories saved earns a meal - and if you enter the promo code HPFB, foodtweeks will double its donation. This is a great app for those looking to make get healthy.

One Last Opportunity This Month

Our 11:00 service is usually packed - and what a wonderful problem for us to have. However, churches stop growing when 80% of the seats are filled - as ours usually are at the later service.

You can be part of the solution as we work to grow our congregation and faith community, extending the warmth of our Beloved Community to more Amarillo and area residents.

Will you help by attending the 9:30 service at least once a month? We look forward to seeing you there!

Climate Justice Month
During Climate Justice Month you will be invited to learn, reflect, and discern what long-term actions you, your family, and/or your congregation or group can take on that will build resistance to climate change. Our newly redesigned website offers suggested actions for individuals/households and congregations/groups, and you can make and track your commitments here online.

Rather than simply taking on small actions for a month, we are setting aside a month to delve into our spiritual grounding for this work, deepen our learning, and intentionally decide how we can commit to transform our lives and our world.

Committed action that springs from principled and spiritual grounding gets us through setbacks and compels us from a place of possibility and creativity. It is a stance of commitment to justice and integrity of all life over the long haul. This theological or principled grounding calls us to evaluate our work and take next steps with more wisdom and impact.

Be part of this important work! Click here to sign up either as individuals, households, or groups.

Children's Religious Education Activities

During the next two weeks, the younger children will continue their emphasis on spring.

The older children will be learning about the religious celebrations taking place this time of year-Passover, Palm Sunday, and Easter. They will be doing crafts to help cement the lessons. They will also talk about some of the symbols of spring and how they came to be associated with the religious holidays.

A theological house can be a place of hospitality

to any who seek its shelter;
it can honor religious diversity and
welcome creative exchange
among multiple religious practices and perspectives.

It can greet the Other as a holy guest and
urge its own residents to venture out
to engage with the world.
