Our 7th Principle in Action
|
The 7th Principle of Unitarian Universalism is "Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part." In keeping with that principle, we encourage all to work with us to respect our planet - reduce, reuse, and recycle!
REUSE:
GUEST CARDS and
PLEDGE ENVELOPES. We reuse blank guest cards and contribution envelopes. Just place them in the brown basket at the rear of Chandler Hall when you leave the Sunday service.
RECYCLE:
CUPS. The cups we use at AUUF are biodegradable, with a corn-based lining instead of petroleum-based plastic and are made with fiber from sustainable harvested wood. They are compostable in an industrial composting facility. Please be sure to put your cups in the green recycle bins near the coffee pot so that they can be composted.
PLASTICS, GLASS, ALUMINUM. Look for the appropriately labeled receptacles in the coffee area and across from the kitchen.

Do you plan a GREAT PARTY?
|
The Fellowship is in need of a Social Committee Chair. What does this require, you ask? Being able to plan fun times for our community to come together. This important committee give us opportunities to get to know each other better, share a meal, laughter, and fellowship.
If you are interested, please contact Keralee Clay, Board President.
|
Our 11:00 service is usually packed - and what a wonderful problem for us to have. However, churches stop growing when 80% of the seats are filled - as ours usually are at the later service.
You can be part of the solution as we work to grow our congregation and faith community, extending the warmth of our Beloved Community to more Amarillo and area residents.
Will you help by attending the 9:30 service at least once a month? We look forward to seeing you there!

Saturday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 PM -
HPPR Living Room Concert with Don Conoscenti. Doors open at 7 pm.
Sunday, Feb. 22 from 2 PM to 4 PM - The Roof of Africa
Join Dino and Dr. Zuriash Ferraresi along with Dr. Juliana Lightle as they take us on a photographic journey through Ethiopia. We'll visit 800-year-old churches in Lalibela, the castles of Gondar and the rare wildlife of Simien Mountains National Park. We'll float down the source of the Blue Nile and drive along the Great Rift Valley as we listen to first-hand accounts of the experience.
Jim Livingston's exhibit -
Continuing through the end of March
You may have missed the opening/artist reception, but you haven't missed the show. Jim Livingston's "Journey Through Darkness" tells its mystic tale throughout the Abbey walls. Stop by and spend some time "listening" to the haunting call that seems to come from each stellar image. The exhibit is open during the Abbey's normal business hours, Tuesday though Saturday.

|
It is February, which means that the Fellowship's annual pledge drive is underway. Stewardship is a year-round effort, but this month is where "the rubber hits the road" when in comes to raising the dollars necessary to keep our Beloved Community moving forward.
The care and feeding of the Fellowship requires our combined contribution of three Ts:
- TIME,
- TALENT, and
- TREASURE.
Each of us gives one or all of those Ts - and that is what makes us such a special community. If each of us takes a moment to reflect on all that must be done to keep our welcoming doors open and our special ship afloat we can see our part - and, perhaps, in what areas we can each increase our contribution of time, talent, and/or treasure.
By now, you should have received a pledge request letter or seen the pledge forms on the greeters' table in the foyer. Don't delay. Complete and submit your pledge today. Be as generous as your individual situation allows.
Your Board of Trustees relies on you to submit your pledge/estimate of financial giving by the end of February. This lead time allows us to develop the June 1, 2015 through May 31, 2016 budget and submit it for your approval at the Congregational Meeting in April.
We anticipate being halfway to our $140,000 goal by the time you read this. If you haven't already, please be part of taking us the rest of the way!
