Circle Dinners are Coming!

The season for Circle Dinners approaches, and hosts are needed.
The goal of a Circle Dinner is to enjoy a fun meal in with Fellowship members you may not already know well. Circle Dinners help us form new friendships and deepen our connections with each other. Plus, they are always very fun!
- Circle Dinners are held during January & February.
- A Circle Dinner is hosted in the home of a member on the date of their choosing, with (usually) eight to twelve members in attendance.
- The dinner is typically potluck, although the host may provide the main dish or suggest a food theme (such as Tex-Mex or vegetarian).
- All members are encouraged to attend at least one circle dinner. Sign up sheets will be posted on the bulletin board by the Fellowship kitchen. Space is limited at each dinner, so sign up early!
To host a Circle Dinner, please contact the Fellowship office administrator, April Myers, at office@uuamarillo.org, or call 355-9351. April will need the date and time, the number of guest members you can accommodate, and any specifics regarding the dinner (potluck, food theme, etc).

Snack Pack 4 Kids -Update
We are unable to sign up as a group. However, you can go to their website and sign up individually. Click here to sign up online, there is a list of areas where you can volunteer, such as bag packing, picking up totes, delivery of totes or assembly line prep. Simply click on VolunteerSpot and follow the prompts. Be sure to include AUUF in your sign up.
Martha's Home
Women's and children's toiletries and hygiene products
 Our support of Martha's Home, a transitional shelter for women and their children, continues to meet a crucial need by supplying essentials for Martha's Home residents. An ongoing need are basic toiletries for women, children, and infants. In recent months, the members of the Fellowship have also supplied LOTS of toilet paper. Thank you - we are on a roll! Currently there is a particular need for the following: - Toilet paper
- Paper Towels
- Household cleaning supplies (no Windex or glass cleaner, please)
Thanks again to every Fellowship member who makes a positive difference in the lives of families transitioning to self-sufficiency. We are helping provide hope!

Why not attend the early service?
|
|
Most members know that our 11:00 service is usually packed. You know because you're there. You're there because that's when you're accustomed to going and it's your time to visit with Fellowship friends. The congregation and I am glad you're there. That you attend regularly. That you support our Beloved Community.
Here's something you may not know. Studies show that a churches attendance will never exceed 80% of its seating capacity. We have 100 seats. Do the math! Our attendance records reflect the results of your calculations. Including the 18 to 20 members who attend the 9:30 service we hover around 100 to 110 members in attendance each Sunday.
I'm sure by now you can see where I'm going. We all want to make our Beloved Community available to as many as wish to join us. We all actively work at growing our congregation and faith community.
Truth is we simply wont be successful in the short term unless we can open up seating at the 11:00 service. If you don't have children and don't regularly attend Adult RE at 10:00 you can help.
Here's my proposition. I'm not asking that you commit to being a 9:30 service regular. It's not an either or proposition. I'm simply suggesting that you consider coming early once a month. If one fourth of the membership did this we'd increase early service attendance by 15 to 20 members, make that many seats available at 11:00, and have the potential of boosting total attendance.
In my mind it simply makes sense to utilize our current space to it's fullest potential as we look forward to the day we can expand our physical space. Can we count on you to help make this a reality?

Join us this Sunday at 4901 Cornell St. for either the 9:30 or 11 AM service - the content and format are the same. Childcare and school-age Children's Religious Education are provided during the 11 AM service only.
A variety of events happen every week, and we hope that you will find one or more that are of interest to you. Come to learn, to enjoy each other, and to work together. The Nothing Much Buddhist Covenant Group meets at the Fellowship for meditation, readings, and fellowship. Gatherings are facilitated by Rick Todd, and all are welcome!

We now have 3 children's Religious Education (RE) groups:
- birth to age 5, taught by Sarah Brown;
- ages 6-9, taught by Maisie Everett and Wes Phillips; and
- ages 10 and up, taught by Vicki Schoen.
Sarah's class will be learning about autumn using curriculum from "Celebrating Me and My World." It ties into our seventh principle.
The six-nine-year-olds will be studying principles 5 and 6 as they learn about the Mayflower Compact and how different beliefs and ideas were considered when it was written.
The ten and up group will be talking about our moral compass and doing the right thing.
