Take action with us: Bring Peanut Butter & PopTarts
|
Why peanut butter & Pop-Tarts?
Peanut butter is very expensive but remains a vital part of SnackPak bags during longer weekends and holidays. Calorie-for-calorie, peanut butter is a nutritionally dense food filled with protein, fiber, and heart-healthy monounsaturated fat. Plus, kids love it.
Pop-Tarts are a sweet treat the program can justify putting in the bag - as long as they do not use donors' precious cash gifts to purchase them. They are obtained exclusively through food drives such as ours.
More information
Please make the change and bring peanut butter & PopTarts! Until everyone is aware of the change, all other items will be donated to the High Plains Food Bank. Contact: Yvonne Moore

This Saturday (Oct. 11) from 9:30 - 11:30 AM:
Unitarian Universalist Journey
This workshop allows us to articulate and share our individual journeys to Unitarian Universalism.
Other workshops this year: - Workshop 3 - October 18
Power and Authority - Workshop 4 - October 25
Turning Points and Moments of Grace
Workshops will be facilitated by a number of different talented, skilled and charming members of our congregation and our leadership development committee, along with our minister for two of the workshops. Whether you can come to all or only one, your presence is needed, wanted, and appreciated! We will enjoy these because we enjoy each other and our shared faith. Special "Talk-Back"
|
 This Sunday, October 12
Following the 11 AM Service
Reviving an old AUUF tradition, a 30-minute"talk-back" session will be held following the 11 AM service. David Green's sermon, America is So Gay! will review the rapid evolution of social acceptance of LGBT persons in America, including the current status of marriage equality.
This week's US Supreme Court refusal to hear appeals by several states opposed to marriage equality opened the door to marriage for even more Americans. These unfolding events will be the focus of this special opportunity for discussion. Please stay and join us!

On Sunday, October 12, we begin a new era in children's RE. We will be dividing the ages 6 and up class into two groups : ages 6-9 and ages 10 & up. We will also begin using the Tapestry of Faith curriculum. The younger elementary kids will be working with morality stories. The learning objectives for the older group are to 1) learn about tools for life that we can gain from our faith, such as courage, questioning, and love; 2) learn to make rules together; 3) explore the meaning of a covenant as we make promises together.
Look for further information on the up coming All Hallows Day party for all our children on November 1.

Unitarian Universalism: Are My Beliefs Welcome?
In Unitarian Universalism, you can bring your whole self: your full identity, your questioning mind, your expansive heart. We are creating a force more powerful than one person or one religion. By welcoming people who identify with Atheism and Agnosticism, Buddhism,Christianity, Humanism, Judaism, Earth-Centered Traditions, Hinduism, Islam, and more, we are embodying a vision "beyond belief:" a vision of peace, love, and understanding. We are building an action-oriented community, bridging races, religions, and creeds with a shared desire to make faith, religion, and spirituality verbs. More information
