Communion
Thursday,
August 14, 2014
6:30 to 6:45 PM
(Every 2nd & 4th Thursday)

Like other Unitarian Universalist congregations, the Amarillo Unitarian Universalist Fellowship counts many Christians among our members. While our service of Communion is a meaningful expression of their faith and is intended to serve and affirm the spiritual needs of our Christian members, by no means is it restricted to Christians; all are welcome to participate in this ceremony of remembrance.

In some traditions, Communion is reserved exclusively for those who have made a particular confession of faith or adopted a certain doctrine. At the AUUF, we make no such distinctions.  Just as we believe Jesus would welcome all to his table, so do we.

The service is facilitated by Rev. David Green.

" Bat Cole"
Wednesdays
at 6 PM

Chalice Abbey Center for Spirituality and the Arts, 2717 Stanley (map)

Chalice Abbey is expanding their contemplative offerings with the addition of Bat Cole: Sacred Listening in Community.

"Bat cole" was the name given in Jewish Tradition to the phenomenon of the Divine Voice. Translated into English, bat cole literally means "the daughter of a sound." Connotatively, we understand "bat cole" to be the echo of the Divine voice spoken intimately to and heard individually within our receptive hearts. In these weekly gatherings, we will employ a variety of contemplative practices (in rotation) intended to enhance our hearing of the bat cole. Each week will employ a different contemplative practice.

August 13:
"Ruminations" - Post Modern Midrash
Something to chew on. Poetry, prose, folklore, legend, and sacred texts from various traditions provide the sinews needed to animate our expedition into cosmic mystery.

Farewell and Thanks, Cathy!
From David Green:

Cathy Proctor has served the Fellowship in dual roles as our part-time Office Administrator and part-time Custodian since 2011.

She is now leaving us to follow other pursuits; her last workday is today - Friday, Aug. 8. Our leadership team is working toward filling both positions. Cathy provided our members and guests with a consistently positive, gracious, and professional presence, and juggled her many responsibilities with aplomb and a dedication to our principles and mission. She will be missed.

Please join me in thanking Cathy for her service and in offering our best wishes for her future! She can be reached today during her office hours at 355-9351, or office@uuamarillo.org
