News from Children's Religious Education (CRE)
|

From Vicki Schoen, CRE Director:In an effort to introduce the children to the rest of the congregation, the children are making posters with the child's picture that we will display.
If there are parents or guardians who do not want the child's picture on his/her poster, please notify Vicki Schoen or one of the teachers.
The children's RE department is also asking for donations of scraps of material, yarn, buttons, and cast-off plastic--especially that which would often be overlooked for recycling. That might include pieces of old toys, flat bread package ties, beads--you get the idea. We could also use a DVD player and laptop computers or tablets you have upgraded from. The lasagna garden is in process! Here is a picture of the garden box that our CRE workers built last weekend. Ask one of the children to tell you about it.

Panhandle Pride 2014 was a success - thanks to you!
|
Thanks to everyone who made
Panhandle Pride 2014 (Sunday, June 22)
a complete success!
So many of our members and friends came out to show their support for the LGBT community Sunday - without you, this success would not have been possible.
We had many Pride attendees who stood with us in support of the couples making their life commitments during the wedding ceremony - we made quite an impact. We were quite visible as we stood holding the orange Standing On the Side of Love placards. It was wonderful to have so many others stand with us in this show of love. We even had some people who had stood with us last year, holding placards, come and ask if we were doing it again. We do make a difference.
So - many thanks to those who talked about our Fellowship, what we believe in and what we stand for; set up and took down our booth; staffed it during the event; offered Pride and Standing on the Side of Love stickers to everyone who passed the booth; sold the rainbow-hued tubes of candy; did art projects with children (of all ages); and showed our commitment to being a Welcoming Congregation.

Unitarian Universalism: 15 Statements of Belief
"Unitarian Universalists have different religious beliefs but share a common faith. We know that life is holy, that each person is worthy, and that, when we join together to plant the seeds of love, the world blossoms." - Erik Resly (Reprinted from the pamphlet, " To the Point: 15 Unitarian Universalist Elevator Speeches," Alicia LeBlanc, Ed.)
