Panhandle Pride 2014

Sunday, June 22 - noon to 6 PM
Memorial Park (near AC)

Schedule of events:
12 - 6: Hot dog roast & potluck picnic.
Bring a dish to share with a large group of people! Our own Eric Berg will be helping with the grilling. Bring your own drinks. No glass bottles.

Pride activities.  Visit the many booths set up by a variety of organizations, including our own.
At ours, we will have CandyArt where individuals can make their own 12" rainbow "pixie sticks" as well as a children's art project by Linda Jackson. She will hep kids of all ages make rainbow butterflies from yarn and, for the more ambitious, pompoms.
Both of these activities were favorites last year, and drew participants to our booth. We'll have banners and AUUF information there to spread the word about our Fellowship being a Welcoming Congregation.

3:00 - Mass wedding
Join us as we stand in support of these couples making their life commitments. We'll be visible - holding the orange Standing On the Side of Love placards. Let's have a strong showing of love!

If you can volunteer to help set up, staff, or take down our booth, contact Martha Baird.

Welcome to the Amarillo
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship!

"Love is the doctrine of this church."

If you're seeking a place of belonging where you can be free from judgment because of your beliefs or whom you love, or you simply need the freedom to grow on your own spiritual and intellectual journey, the AUUF might very well be the place for you.

Join us this Sunday at the Amarillo Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4901 Cornell St. Come for either the 9:30 or 11 AM service - the content and format are the same. Childcare and school-age Children's Religious Education are provided during the 11 AM service only.

News from
Children's Religious Education (CRE)
From Vicki Schoen, CRE Director:
We had a great group of kids the past Sunday and began making posters about ourselves. In an effort to introduce the children to the rest of the congregation, we will be displaying those posters with the child's picture.

If there are parents or guardians who do not want the child's picture on his/her poster, please notify Vicki Schoen or one of the teachers.

Sunday the 22nd, the older children will be making a lasagna garden. This concept ties together our 1st principle of respecting the  inherent worth and dignity of every person and our 7th principle regarding the interdependent web of all existence. No, I'm not going to explain what a lasagna garden is, but you can see for yourselves after Sunday.

Children are asked to bring flower seeds on Sunday, June 22 if they can.

The children's RE department is also asking for donations of scraps of material, yarn, buttons, and cast-off plastic--especially that which would often be overlooked for recycling. That might include pieces of old toys, flat bread package ties, beads--you get the idea. We could also use a DVD player and laptop computers or tablets you have upgraded from.

Unitarian Universalism:
15 Statements of Belief

"Our denomination is unique because every Unitarian Universalist has the right to develop a personal philosophy of life, without being told what to believe. We can learn from all philosophies and religions, and also from science and the arts. We explore important life issues in a caring community, united by shared values rather than by shared theological opinions. And no matter what we do believe about theology or philosophy, we try to live a good life and leave the world better than we found it."
